Indy bosses to wait on F1 future

The future of the US Grand Prix will not be resolved until after this year's race on 2 July, according to officials at the Indianapolis circuit.
Last season's race at the Brickyard was reduced to farce when 14 cars pulled out because of tyre safety fears.

"We had conversations after last year's event and mutually decided to address the future after we see how this year year's race goes," a spokesman said.

Indianapolis' contract with F1 expires after this year's 2 July event.

F1 boss Bernie Ecclestone has already looked at the possibility of holding a street race in Las Vegas as an alternative.

The Nevada city held a Grand Prix at the Caesar's Palace casino in 1981 and '82, but plans for a race on a street track including the famous Strip in the 1990s fell through.

I'm kinda with Bob on this one; F1 is damn difficult to follow compared with other racing series in the US so the heck with them for now until we get tired of watching go fast turn left NASCAR racing.

Since I grew up in Indiana, F1 racing is what I define racing to be. I would really miss it, if it were to go away or morph.

Let's hope that everyone gets their tyres sorted out for this years race and that the new 2.4l engines are up to the job by then. It'll be a real problem should this years race turn into a farce like last year, doing that sort of thing once can be written off in the annuls of history quite rapidly, do it twice in succession and you're doomed.

Wait till they start putting plates on the new motors... then it will be just like NASCAR on a road course with drivers that have funny sounding names.

Restrictor plates are inserted in (or on) the engines to keep the speeds down...Lowers the max speed of the vehical. Claims to "make it safer and a fairer race" but really...it's crap.
If we wanted safer, we'd not have them racing round in the first place....Fairer....then you'd need to have more dosh or a better mechanic to make the BEST engine function you can....

Often times we have these on vehicals for hire to keep us from maxing them out....(usually set just above max speed limit for the area). Sux to rent a nice Mustang, find a great streach of open road only to find out they've got a restrictor in place and you can only go 75 max
