Unhappy Some Questions about the 81c

Hi All,

This is my first post on this forum, so appologies if i break any netiquete rules etc.

I am after some advice/help from anyone how can/will provide it. (Please bear with me on this.... )

We have an Meridian 81c release 25.40b.
Our meridian is supplied by a company in the UK who shall remain nameless for the time being, and there are some concerns over various issues we are experiencing.

I won't go into the problems fully at the moment but we are looking for some clarifcation are the setup of the meridian.

Firstly, we are attempting to determine the mac address of the CORE network ports on the meridian. Is anyone able to provide the commands that will allow us to interigate the meridian to determine the mac address?

We actually have 3 meridians (2 81c's and a 61.) We have been told that one of the 81's and the 61 are running on the pentium processor boards and that the other 81 is running on the old 486 processor board.

We have also been told that the 486 boards are set at 10 half network speeds and that the pentium boards are set at 100full, but we have reason to doubt that this is actually the case.

Our network guys have confirmed to me that on one of the "pentium" sites that the network switch is running at 10half instead of 100 full. (This switch is working which kind of hints that the meridian interface is set at 10half also.)

Is there any way to confirm that type of processor board in the switch and the speed of the network interface? Could anyone also clarify that what we have been told about network speeds accross the different type of boards is correct?

Any help that you can give me would be appreciated in ways you wouldn't believe!

Thanks and all the best

Kevin

Your vendor is correct: The Pentium Processor uses 100BaseT full duplex, and the old motorola processor can only communicate at 10BaseT half duplex.

Not sure about the command for a MAC address on the 81 and 61. I will check and post back.
