Unhappy Call Pilot anomaly

I have a Call Pilot 100/150 on a Norstar MICS. When calls are made into the system through a trunk line, the caller leaves a message and and hangs up. Approximately 30 Seconds later, the Call Pilot will calls tha calling party back and the calling party is back in voice mail being told to leave a message. Does anyone know what is causing that to happen?

I'll take a WAG at this and say the person calling your call pilot is doing so from a line with calling features enabled such as three way calling.

"Bob" picks up the phone and call your number.
"Bob" gets voicemail.
Rather than slam the reciever down
"Bob" pokes the hook switch with his finger causing a "hook flash"
this puts the call they just made to your call pilot "on hold" with "Bob's" telco provider.
with the dial tone "Bob" now has he either tries to dial another number or "Bob" places the reciever back in the cradle.
At this point "Bob's" telco provider has a call "on hold".
seeing "Bob's" line is now idle "Bob's" telco provider then rings "Bob" back so that he may resume his call with your call pilot.

This gets really fun when you record ring back in your mailbox and record "Bob" saying "Hello?, hello? anyone there?? Damn crank calls!!"

I have had to explain this to more than one customer. Long story short, The problem is not your CallPilot, but the person calling your callpilot.

That's my wild guess anyway....
