I have a large deployment of the 2211 sets and it works farily well. So when the new 801.11a/b/g series phones came out (6140 and 6120) I wanted to try them. But there seems to be a problem.
The 22XX WLAN series phones don't care if they have any firmware available on the TFTP server. When booting these phones search for a moment and if they don't find the SLNK_CFG.CFG file they go on their merry way and finish booting.
The 61XX WLAN phones get hung up. If there is no SLNK_CFG.CFG file on the TFTP server they flash back and forth forever between "Checking Code... slnk_cfg.cfg" and "Initializing..."
So the obvious solution is... put the firmware for the 61XX series sets on the TFTP server. That works fine for the 61XX series sets. They now check their firmware and go on their merry way. *BUT* now the 21XX series sets are upset. Both sets use the SLNK_CFG.CFG for their software but they use different SLNK_CFG.CFG files! I can't point them to different TFTP servers because both sets get the address of the TFTP server from the DHCP server.
In short, I can't make the 61XX series phones happy without screwing up the 22XX sets and I can't make the 22XX series phones happy without screwing up the 61XX sets!
Oh great Nortel minions hear my plea, can you assist? Any ideas?
