For kicks I sent a pricing request on these phones to a 3rd party vendor I use, and here is the response I got..
"These new IP phones are being shipped to customers who do software upgrades with their Nortel Dist., I'm told,
but these sets are not supposed to be available for sale individually (without system purchase or upgrade) until end of 2nd Qtr.
(around June '06)."

Anyone installed one of these yet? I'm wondering how they're set up in the PBX. Is it another Nortel hack where you program it up as an I2004 but it's actually an 1124? (a la 3820 and 2008 or whatever)

Thanks,
Arch

I was under the impression that you could order them. I did have the NT number so it looked like from our side they were orderable. We had customers looking into upgrading to them but so far with the prices almost double of some phones they were just not that anxious yet.

I believe they are orderable but again we haven't tried to place one so I am not sure.

If anyone has ordered them let us know so we can confirm or deny this rumor!

I have had a few vendors now contact me on availabilty. Maybe I was too quick on the draw when I saw them on Nortels site and inquired about pricing. I have not ordered any yet, but probably will within the next two month's. I need to upgrade the test phone on my desk.

Does anyone have the programming information for these phones? Also is this only supported in Release 4.5 and above?

1140e

I have one on my desk that I installed last week. It takes an I2004 TN on Release 3.0. I just unplugged my I2004 and put that TN on the 1140E; I did not change the TN at all! This phone Rocks - the base is a 1000% improvement over the 390x/i200x series phones.

The IP Phone 1140E has been shipping since November 2005 and the IP PHone 1120E since February 2006. Both of them are supported on Succession 3.0 or CS 1000 4.0/4.5. The IP Phone 1140E is programmed as an "i2004" and the IP Phone 1120E is programmed as an "i2002". CS 1000 4.5 or later has the ability to recognize the IP Phone 1120E/1140E and properly upgrade its firmware. For earlier releases, you need to provide a TFTP server to upgrade the firmware.

What is the pricing on these sets compared to the i2004's and such?

When you see the price your like

It is quite costly, they are really slick phones. I am glad Nortel brought these out. Now we got to get a few on the grey market to make them affordable just kidding!!!

The Bluetooth enabled 1140E IP phone is super star. We have around 800 phones in use. The settings are same like old i2004 phone.
The only thing i dont' like is that it take much longer than i2004 phone on reboot time. But it's acceptable.
