Nortel Feature Wish List

Mine would be a built in Iron Lady.
Dial a SPRE feature code and receive:
"DN 2221, TN 4 <pause> 0 <pause> 12 <pause> 2"

This would be great for those of us who have to inventory wiring that was not done in the past.

I like the Iron Lady idea, but I'd prefer it refer to the old german (yes, not the English, but the germans) torture device...

User makes a mistaken 911 call and hangs up, spills coffee/tea/soda/water on the set and denies it...etc.....
Dial a spre code and out pops the metal lass spikes and all....user is put in until they admit they broke it, or stop the offending phone use

I was looking for non-violent features, yet I did have a user spill water into her 2616 yesterday.

Quote of the year choices for my new signature phrase

OH>..wellllll...Nonviolent side:
A "Virtual Office/Hotleing" product that acutally WORKS for most applications...
I like what they've got so far, but it'd be nice to have it not depend on the type of phone set....If your progammed as a 3904, but log into a 3903, so what? you just wont get all the features...

How about a phone, 39xx, that you can program right from the key pad. When you plug the line cord in it makes a connection to the switch, which assign's it's own TNn and calls you when it's all done. It would say:
"Welcome to the automated Phone Programming. Your new phone and Voice Mail have been set."

HC - I could do your request via MerAssistant (I looked into it, but the text-to-voice readers are still really expensive)..

It would work something like:

You dial a special dn..
When MerAssistant sees that DN dialed - it does a trace and uploads it to a text file that is read by a Text-to-Voice reader.

MerAssistant dials you back and states "DN: 2221 TN: 4 0 12 2"

PG - Can't help with your first request - wish I could. The second about Hoteling - How does that work?

John - I'd have to give your idea a lot of thought. I assume that all your jacks would be wired to a TN, but you're not sure what TN you're on. Could do something like I suggested for HC, except every 'unused' Tn is programmed with the same number - you dial a 'Trace DN' and MerAssistant calls you back and tells you what TN you're on.. Not sure on this one - this is tough...

Is that something you guys/gals would be interested in?

Any other ideas?

HC - I just checked google and found a 'Free' text to voice reader. I think I'll give your suggestion a try..

Pirates - Virtual Office on IP Phones works as you requested. You can log into a different type of IP Phone from your "home" set. Added advantage with IP Virtual Office is that you can do this from anywhere on the network, not just on the same CS 1000.

HC - Look at "Set-Based Administration" NTP. Has a function whereby you can DN-TN correspondance directly from a set.

Chas...
I like your interest in the above, however, please note that I was not stating that these were things you needed to do... just a general list of cool things for Nortel to add to their next release.

The set based administration would only work on digital. I am currently working on update my wire documentation and the majority of our sets are analog. About 9 to 1 ratio.

Currently I have been but setting and calling someone with a digital display and asking them what my DN is.
