WOW...There are a lot of good ideas posted here. Keep them coming.

Are the basic ACD queues still in use 'a lot'?

I thought for sure with Symposium and all the CTI programs out there that basic ACD would be dead. I began a program with some files that Tammy sent me, but dropped it because I thought basic ACD and reporting was dead and I didn't see a lot of postings about reporting...

To all of those who've posted thus far:

If you guys/gals give me a print out of how it works now and an example of how you would want it to work - I can probably create a program that does it....

I did some messing around today and HC's idea about 'Dial Back' is totally possible.

Slag's

"In LD 90 I would like it to print broken out NXXs / NPAs based on the 3 digit code, currently if I print NXX xxx and it happens to be broken out I have to print (or guess) the entire NXX database to actually see the break outs. DNs and TNs will print based upon short inputs so I think NXXx,NPAs and SPNs should too." - I could probably do this..

"LD 81, I would like to see an enhancement that would break down the Count Sets to show the number of each type of set by loop and shelf along with the grand totals for the entire system."- I could probably do this..

Rach's

"Day, TOD, and Holiday Automation of Call Redirection and would like Nortel to streamline this feature." - I could probably do this...

Damo's

"Mine would be a search engine in Symposium's scripting" - I could probably do this..

Plus - I'll be launching MerAudit this Wednesday. Does anyone have an example of a LD 117 print out they can send me. Currently MerAudit is manual - I'd like to automate some portions..

I'd like to do a program that 'maps' the ESN programming, but ESN is not my strong point and I'm not totally sure how everything is related..

I work for a broke California State government entity... I have lots of Opt11s with onesy twosy ACD queues and basic reporting.

The bottom line is that I'm not in the business of software support, I give the IS / IT geek a serial port and let them plug it into whatever they want, all I do it make sure that the information coming out of it is as close to what they want as I can get it. Most customers would like to see the report options on a queue by queue basis rather than at a system level, some customers want everything they can get and then some others want very little and get disguntled when they get an entire system of reports every hour because that's how it works. If I install any software on any customer PC in an effort to get them what they want I assume responsibility for the operation and integrity of that software which is not a risk I'm willing to take given the attitude of a lot of my customers.

If I had just one switch and one customer to deal with I probably would've figured out and rewritten the software code by now.

The way we currently do this is by restricting access to the ESN loads and creating a weekly searchable database of ESN data. (Automatic of course)

Ideally any software that does this should be able to do it quickly and unless Nortel starts allowing the break outs to be printed based on 3 digit input it will have to maintain a backend database that will have to be refreshed on a regular basis (ours does refreshes on weekends) without impacting normal operation. Consider this... I manage around 1200 NXXs per site in a network of around 80 sites, some sites break out NPAs giving around 500 or NPAs for those, if I have to print every NXX or NPA to look at a break out in the 900 range it's gonna take some time...

You're in luck... a 117 inventory is comma and space delimited.. makes it easy. Check yer email!!! And don't call any of my customers.

I'd like to help... can you make it so it will work over a modem? It's been so long since I set foot in a switchroom I doubt I'd know where to plug in.

Just had checked this on release 4.0 - all works ok
Thanks!!! The dump I posted came out of a 3.0 system so I know it was still screwed at that point... unless there is a patch I can add to the 95 patches already in there to fix it.

The switch DESPERATELY needs a hard-drive and an operating system (UNIX)

The entire phone software would be a daemon with a configuration file.

To modify anything you simply change the configuration file using ssh (/scp) then reload the daemon.

This approach doesnt seem like much but the power this has is astonishing.

You could have a modem rack attached that would do voice synthesis and can also do anwsering machine functions.

You simply have a webserver elsewhere that will modify the configuration file then restart the daemon twice a day.

If wireless routers such as the WRT54GS can have embedded linux running on them I dont see why Nortel does not take this approach.

I'm not sure what you're working on but large systems have hard drives and they all have operating systems. (VxWorks) The OS layer is off limits to us for a variety of reasons.

Although a big supporter of open source I know better than even try asking for it sice it all biols down to one thing... $ Ever had to pay the software transaction fee for one little thing?

REMOTE BACKUPS:

Before you read any more of this post, yes I'm trying to sell you something, BUT I do believe it's of GREAT value to you.

For remote backups on large systems, talk to your vendor about using my company's backup service. We give you a nice backup disk image in a .zip file that you can extract and use to restore your PBX. "Not possible!" you say? Bah! Anything's possible!

You can purchase it yourself directly if your vendor refuses to do so, although we will most likely charge you a higher rate than we would them.

check it out:

Come on people, keep me in a job!!!

I would really like to be able to sync the system time with a NTP server, how hard could that be?

Networking CICS and MICS via Internet/VPN?

I want to be able to modify the banner that comes up when you login to include information specific to the site being logged into, this would really come in handy for those little things that come up on a site by site basis that if I were to tell everyone I'd be spending all day on the phone.

Ever bring down a T-1 in a site for a specific reason and then have someone else spend 3 hours trying to fix it because they didn't know it was supposed to be down? Happend today.
