Rep Power: 0 ![]() | We have a computer hooked up to a NEC 2000IPS using Matworx. About every 3 months we go in an reset the voice mail because some fills it up too much. This time the computer crashed and we had to back up the software on it. But now we can't connect to the 2000IPS. The CAT has a level 7 password that no one knows, and even though we have a PAD's card and the MP card with an Ethernet connection, we don't have the settings for it (tried the 198.162.1.36, and port 60000) but nothing. The only thing that works is the remote modem. But that also has a password that no one knows. A few times matworx (6.3) says it connects on com2 using 19200 baud, 8 bit, and 2 stop bits. I have tried other settings but nothing. ALso we noticed that the SMDR data from our AP-00B card stopped too. At this same time a all the lights on a 8LCS (the one hooked to the voice mail server and matworx computer) started blinking red. The 2000ips has 2 pim, Pim0 has 5-8DLPC cards 1 AP00-b (connected to com1 on Voicemail) and 1 24ptra-c and cp24-[with ethernet](RS1 connected to com2) sense switch is set to 0. PIM1 has 2-8LCS cards and a 32ipla card (with ethernet) Can someone tell me how to connected via ethernet, or a different RS port or how to get around the password? Via the remote modem I have made a backup of the sysetm. as a added point no our voice mail isn't working as the card it is hooked to is blinking red. THe voice mail server is perfect voice from teleco with 2 dialogic cards in it (4ports) thanks for you help

Rep Power: 6 ![]() | locked out of NEC 2000IPS It is possible to get the password by interrogating the appropriate memory address but I'm not in a position to tell you what that address is. By the sound of it you have a very poorly system there I hope you have a backup to reload. the flashing lights show that the system either has the ports in make busy or has lost the programming for them. It would be better to get your maintainer to fix this one and at the same time insist on having the level 7 password. It's your system after all. Have you tried the connection wizard in matworks to let it determine the correct connection settings. Also have you tried the second port on the MP card (don't forget you will have to change the switch setting to take it away from the inbuilt modem).

Rep Power: 0 ![]() | yes I just switched to RS1 turned off the modem and got in, no problem. However now it is asking for a password even on this direct connection. Turns out our helpful tech said they will "NEVER" give us the password. This has really soured things. I notice too that our hard copy of the manuals are no longer here, and I recalled before having floppy backups too. If the machine is reset don't we need to reinstall the lic for the MP card and PAD card? How can we do this if the FD is gone? I didn't install it so don't know exactly how that goes, but I do see it refered to in the manuals. So what should we have on site for back up. Manuals, FD with lic, FD with backup, software(matworx) is that right?

Rep Power: 6 ![]() | You wouldn't necessarily get all you have listed Matworks may be optional depending whether you have paid for it. The backup floppy isn't even a requirement but any good tech should leave one. A reset won't lose the data in there (it's stored on flash rom) and a restore should put back all that is needed. it's possible just a system reset will get everything going again but do you risk it? Sounds to me like a lawyer is going to earn money from this. It may be worth contacting NEC direct as they can probably recreate everything for you and they need to know the treatment you are recieving.

Rep Power: 0 ![]() | I did reset the system. Still have the problem with the cards, but atleast the RS0/RS1 connection works now. Still haven't gotten around the password. will call NEC up tommorow to see how to deal with the Tech. I think they would'nt dare put hold to their guns on this one. I am having one of the managers go back and check all the paperwork to see what was included in the purchase and any agrements. I think the tech is upset because we will be implementing a VoIP solution to augment the PBX and are not going to use them. I do have one question, if we do a complete reset of the system, blank it, and reload the data, will that also reload the passwords? With the other system you just remove the battery and bye bye.

Rep Power: 6 ![]() | locked out Ok I've had one of those DOH! moments so have to ask 1/ is this an external voicemail 2/ if it is have you tried disconnecting the voicemail from the system and plugging in an analogue phone instead. It just occoured to me that you said you were backing up the viocemail when the problem occurred. Some voicemails have a feature that if they percieve a problem with a port they busy it out. If this has happened the extension ports could simply be in line lockout. Check your PMs

Rep Power: 0 ![]() | Yes it is an external Voice mail system using Intel Dialogic boards (2-2ports). The voice mail software is perfect voice from Teleco. These cards are connected to the 8LCS card in PIM1 of the PBX. This is the card blinking. I have physicall disconneteced all lines (to ensure there wasn't something physically wrong.) and the problem still exisit. Ok. let me get this straight, your saying that the voice mail system via the SMBI connector busied out all the lines? And even though all the line have been disconnected and reconnected, and the system reset, that they will still be buysed out? That this change was put in to the office data of the PBX? If this is the case were would I change the setting? I don't have that much experience with this system, but I thought that type of item would automatically clear. Perhaps I didn't understand your recommendation.
