Neax 2000 Ips Pms

Hi

According to NEC, the neax 2000 ips connects with the Property Management System (PMS) of a hotel to provide hospitality communications.

I know as well that NEC has a special add on card that provides hospitality functions through the console.

According to our PMS software vendor (roommaster 2000) which we want to purchase, they said that Roommaster2000; using a special Bidirectional Interface (EPI); integrates with NEC PBX directly without this special card.

They mentioned that SMDR from pbx connects to com1 of the pc that has roommaster2000, then com2 goes back to NEC PBX.

My question is: Does NEC has a PMS port that comes standard like SMDR port?
If yes, then will com2 connects to this PMS port on pbx.
If NO, where will com2 interface to pbx?

Help will be greatly appreciated

The CPU for the IPS (CP-24) should have 2 serial ports on the front. (small square connectors with pins sticking out towards you).
One is typically used for MATworx connection, the other can be assigned to be SMDR.

If you do this though, you will not be able to use the built in modem on the CPU for remote maintenance. When you flip dip sw4 on thpu card to enable the modem it will disable the SMDR output.

I am not sure if you can use the CPU port for PMS connection.

The card typically used for a PMS connection is the AP-00.

So for smdr to work, sw4 must be off ... in this case what is the second serial port be used for

kindly clarify

thanks

You would be better off starting your own thread in the IPS fourum as the title of this thread doesn't match your query and the fact that it is older will put people off looking at the thread again.
