Rep Power: 0 ![]() | Station Moves Our company has about 80 people switching cubes tomorrow and we're looking for a better way to move stations. Our current method involves visiting the punch-down block where we occassionally break more things than we fix. We've got a good listup of the station and lens data and logic is telling me we should be able to assign a station to another lens without having to delete the station data first. Can anyone share some insight about how to easily move a station if you know the lens you are moving from and the lens you want to move to? We're using a NEAX 2400 IMX and using the R18 MAT console.

Rep Power: 4 ![]() | Hello billmcl The easy way "but NOT the best" is to use your PC and swap numbers and lens. But I would strongly recommend the best solution which you do it once and for ever: have your pbx cables terminated on one termainal block, and your home cables termainated on another then run jumpers between the two blocks, in so doing you will be playing with the jumpers whenever ther is a need to move any one from one office to another.

Rep Power: 0 ![]() | Yes, that's the way we do it now but end up bumping other cables during the process causing a disruption in service. The way we're trying to do it would permanently assign the lens to the office, cube, or whatever and only the station data would change.

Rep Power: 4 ![]() | OK, you are favoring the "easy" method. Please keep in mind that in case you are moving Dterms numbers, if any, you have to reassign the key data for each dterm as well, cause the key data are assigned to NUMBERS and not to LENS,and so it does not move out when swaping dterm number. Location: Sterling, Virginia; USA Rep Power: 4 ![]() | Another way you could do it is to move the terminations from blocks to a patch panel. Put your terminations for your house cable and phone switch onto patch panels, then all you have to do is move patch cords (i.e. cat5e) to swap stations and not have to worry about punch downs. I know this isn't a quick fix and will cost a little bit of money, but if you move extensions a lot it might be the easiest way. It is also relative to how many phones you have terminated on your system and the corresponding space for hanging patch panels in your switch room. Good luck.

Rep Power: 6 ![]() | The easiest way but probably the most expensive up front would be to install IP phones. This way when people move cubes they pack there phones up take them with them unpack plug them into the customers network log in and the phone move is done
