Flash Drive for NEC 2400 IPX

I would like a spare flash drive for my NEC 2400 IPX for use when upgrading, etc. It would be nice to just pop the old one back in and reboot if something goes wrong. My Vendor wants $1400 for one. This seems way too high. Anyone know where I might find one more reasonably priced?

Have you tried Ebay????

Do you have the full description to enable you to get an alternative part if you can't get the exact part?

Had a quick look myself and you may be better off buying a PCMCIA adaptor and using CF cards but what is the memory size used in the system? you can go up to 4Gb on a cf card!

Watch out though the manual states
1. Insert a flash card into the PC.
Note: The flash card (FLASH-ATA-320M) prepared by NEC must
be used.

However it appears the system only has 256Mb of memory so a CF card should be able to hold it. Next time you take one out to do a back up, check it's properties while it is in the laptop and that should give you the size. Then it's up to you whether to take the risk or not.

The card that is in there appears to be 512. I just found a 1GB Cisco card on Ebay for $29. I think I'll give it a shot. I have the NEC Flash Tool so it should tell me if it has issues with it (I'm hoping anayway).

Post back and let us know how you get on. I may get one myself however I'm in maintenance so I would have less use for it. I was thinking that if it will work with an adaptor and a cf card I could just buy the adaptor and use the cf card I use for a load of other uses.

You should be fine, however, you will have to copy the config CD to your card first. Then you should be able to use the Flash tool to copy your database to your new card.

Flash tool recognized card. I have loaded system software on it on and copied my config to it. When winter school ends in a couple of weeks I will try it out in the system.

SV7000 / MPS systems use 1 Gb CF flash the IPX systems use 320 MB PCMCIA Flash and I have seen success full use of the IOmega drives, but beware some versions will become inoperable when the CFCS tool is used IE once they are logged off they never log on!!!
