Neax 2400 SIM

Hello NEC Experts
I have an old Neax 2400 SIM pbx consisting of 2 PIMs.
Suddenly the opertors complained that most of the extensions are not working.testing the pbx proved that 124 extensions were faulty in 12 PA-16LCH cards as follows:
some no dial tone, others no ring,
all CO lines and attendant console were found ok . NO signs of burning out on cards were observed.
any idea on this abnormal situation.

are all faulty cards in the same PIM?

check your power supply fuses, if any are blown replace.
if they are in same pim, move a bad card to a slot in other pim and test there. this will prove cabling and pbx backplane.

also isolate extension at pbx frame to rule out open circuits on cables.

No , They are in the 2 PIMs. It is obvious that the PA-16LC boards are faulty.
I replaced one good card and it works fine. Now I have to repair the faulty cards.
My point is to find out how that could have happened, and to take necessary measures to avoid it from occuring in the future.

AbuSuhail,

Check your Distribution side MDF, is it protected by surge protectors? May be a foreign power was induced to the cable side.
