Need Steps to add NEAX 2000 Phones/DTerm Series E Extensions

Hi, I'm hoping someone can help me. We have a NEAX 2000 PBX/Dterm Series E phone system. This system was here when we moved in and my boss decided that he could save some money by keeping it. The problem is that every time we have to do anything to the phone system like changing the clock I have to call a tech who charges a lot of money to program it. I've learn to use the CAT commands to do the basics since it was getting too expensive every time we had to call the tech. We don't have any software for it and we are all Mac anyway. OK, the problem that I'm having is that our main number was ringing at the receptionist' phone. Unfortunately, it stopped doing this so every time someone calls our main number it goes straight to voice mail. How can I program it to ring again using CAT commands?

Thank you in advance.

First Log on with the key sequence TRF CNF * TRF CNF # this should give CAT MODE in the display. Press LNR/SPD and you should then have the COMMAND prompt. using the line keys across the top press the 5th from the left and it should give you E in the display. Dial 600 and press RECALL then dial the extension number of the receptionists phone then press RECALL again it should show the number for the voicemail. Press the 3rd line key across the top three times (you should get CCC in the display) then press CONF and that should be it. If this doesn't work out (there may be a password set), follow the instructions here.....

What feature code does what? - NEC: PBX solutions FAQ - Tek-Tips

You are looking for the code assigned 011 or A011 depending on your systems version then simply lift the handset of the operators phone and dial in that code and hang up.

NB. If your main number normally rings on a different key you will have to use the number shown in the display when you pick up the handset and press that key for the E600 method. Or if you find the feature code you will have to select that key after picking up the handset before dialling the feature code. Even easier than all this would be to ask if anyone knows the call forward all cancel code and use that.

R4+Z, thank you so much. This was of great help. I do have one more question, in CAT MODE, how do I type "NONE"? My boss' phone has an extension that from time to time it rings. I looked and the 3rd button has an extension programmed there. Since I'm new at CAT I don't know how to make the 3rd button NONE (I made it F5000). I would love to know the key combination to make it NONE again.

Thanks again.

To make it read NONE you have to delete the entry. To do that simply enter CCC as the second data (where you put F5000) the C can be found on the third line key from top left then execute (conf) if you then go back in to look at it it will read NONE.

R4+Z, Thank you so much. I went on vacation and just came back to find your answer. I really appreciate it. I do have one more question that was waiting for me. While I was gone someone left our company and the new person cannot use the phone because he didn't leave the password. How do I reset the password for that specific extension?

Thanks again.

Thanks for your help. I checked in the other place but for whatever reason I'm unable to leave a message there. We do have an IVS so you are correct. Someone here who worked with the previous person told me that he used to go to the Receptionist' phone every time he needed to reset a password for an extension. I'm imagining that he was using CAT MODE and also that the receptionist' phone is the main one but I still don't know how to go about doing this. Argh!!! It is probably something simple but I'm just not seeing it. I've checked all my notes and whatever he left but nothing.

Oh, did I mention that we are all Mac so getting a PC software is not going to help me unless I can buy something similar but for the Mac.

R4+Z,

Thank you so much for trying to help me. I finally was able to do it because I found the System Mailbox and the System Security Code. I went through all the menus and it finally got to the part about entering an extension and then "would you like to delete the security code." I'm so happy. What was bothering me the most was that I found a file named NEC Dterm Series Reset Password but when I opened it was the same as NEC Dterm Series E Program Buttons. These were procedures written internally and obviously the Reset Password was overwritten with the content of the other. Anyway, I'm making sure everything I have learned here is well documented for me and anyone else who is coming after me.

Thank you again.
