Rep Power: 0 ![]() | Nec neax ips 2000 I have a NEC NEAX IPS2000 PBX. I want to hook it up to another PBX by creating a trunk between it and the other phone system. I have a SPN-24PRTA-C PRI/T1 card. I believe this will allow me to physicaly connect it to the other system's PRI/t1. Is there some type of harness that i need to by to plug in the the socket on the card to get to the other system? The other system has RJ-45 type plug and this NEC card I have doesnt have one. I dont see how i can make any other connections to it. Any Help would be greatly appreciated. Bosko

Rep Power: 5 ![]() | Please don't take this the wrong way but if you don't have any clue as to how to connect a card, then the programming of the service will be like trying to teach you sandskrit by correspondence. I strongly reccomend employing a local technician to lead you through this. A clue though first find the TPF and then see the ISDN manual which can be found on the wedophones web site.

Rep Power: 0 ![]() | Thank you very much for your reply. I did not take it the wrong way, it is obvious that I know nothing about the NEC (or any) phone system. I don't plan on doing any programming/installing the card to the NEC, I will try to find a NEC guy for that. Im trying to make sure I have the correct card as it didn't look as i expected. I also want to get what ever miscellaneous hardware i may need. What is "TPF" in your above post? Many thanks!

(info - the funny square connector with all the pins is a proprietary serial connector used for firmware updates) Sounds like you have the hardware part. However, R4+Z is right, the programming, dip switches, sense wheel etc. is another matter altogether. You could be looking at a small project depending on the number plan, features needed, i.e. networked VM, message waiting lamps, dialing restrictions, LCR etc. I also highly suggest a qualified NEC IPS technician for the job. Good luck. -Phil tell-a-tek-dot-com =) Last edited by pingram; 10-01-2008 at 02:49 AM. Reason: added info note

Rep Power: 5 ![]() | Hi The TPF is the Test Point Frame. It is the connection blocks your system cables out to and where it is cross connected to the building cabling. Yes the IVS manuals will do. They have all the basic commands necessary for your requirements and there are only minor changes and updates in the IPS books (unless you are using VOIP).

Rep Power: 0 ![]() | Just pulled an NEAX 2000 IPS system from a subsidiary Hi, We closed a subsidiary firm which we bought. I'm in the process of downloading all of the manuals for this system, but thought I would ask the experts a question before I start reading all of this material: Is it pretty simple to set this up just to communicate between extensions? Yes, believe it or not, all I plan to do with this is to facilitate communications at short-lived events between workers separated by maybe 600 to 700 feet. Maybe five or six phones. That's it. I am assuming, and this could be a fatal assumption, that somehow the programming is preserved in this unit even when the battery is pulled. NVRAM?? Hopefully? If so, then I should be able to use the previous programming to ring extensions based on how they were assigned. If not, which manual should I start reading first? If this unit turns out to not be so useful, is there any resale value for it? There's about 35 phones along with it. This is a very civil board. I haven't seen this level of courtesy and helpfulness in many years. Congrats to you all. -Bob

However, even without that it's a few commands - put an extension on a LEN (port), then use command 93 and 9000 to associate the line for that extension with the extension. Lastly look at command 20x (usually CM200) which is number plan and allows you to call internally between stations. If you need more help, PM me.

Rep Power: 0 ![]() | Hi, Thank you very much. As soon as I get the POE switch, I'll start playing with this. Stupid question: How do you get the phone system into the POE switch? I have the wiring and punch down blocks which were attached, but as far as I know, those were cross connected right to the wall jacks. If that's the case, then how did the phones get power? Did I leave something behind when I was taking out the system?
