| New extension issues Hello, I'm an IT Administrator and a brand new member to the forum. I just found the site but have found some of the existing posts very helpful. Despite having no phone/NEC training or experience, I have somehow become my credit union's "phone guy". I've actually stumbled my way through the NEC manuals and have been able to avoid calling NEC technicians for the last year. I have become familiar with MOC and Matworx slightly and have previously been able to do things like create new extensions, move phones, and add/removes features. That being said, I am self-taught and would not consider myself fully competent. With our latest need, however, I appear to have reached my technical limit. My situation is as follows: We have numerous credit union branches. With the exception of our main branch, our remote branch phones are Dterm Series E phones with the NEC IPA-U10 Network Interface Card$. We then program the phones with a user id, ip address, etc. These phones use our LAN to reach a NEC IP Gateway. We use a web browser to configure the ports on the gateway. The gateway then connects to the PBX. We use 4 digit extensions for our phones. Each branch has extensions that start with a different number (for example, branch A phones are 1xxx, Branch B phones are 2xxx, etc.). I'm now trying to open a new branch that will have extensions starting with 4. I setup the ports on the IP Gateway. I created the extension in MOC using command 10. Command 9000s and 93 look good. I can't get the phone to connect even though I can get it to ping the Gateway. If I'm at an existing, working phone and even hit the first digit of these extensions (4), I get a busy signal before being allowed to put in the remaining 3 digits. It is as if the system thinks that any extension starting with 4 would be invalid. Is there somewhere I need to "allow" this? Also, the new phones at the remote branch are not able to fully connect to the IP Gateway. I get the message "Assigned Port is Down". When I go into the management console of the IP Gateway, it shows the port status as "Port is enabled but there is a bad connection to the PBU/KSU or phones". Can anyone provide any insight as to what I may have missed or things I need to do? Thanks in advance, Aaron |
