Rep Power: 0 ![]() | Nec 2000ips Anybody integrate a inskin 2000ips v mail (VM 07(22) printed on the card) with another voicemail and or connected a smdi output of another system to the NEC for message lights using their voicemail. Situation: customer is replacing 2 year old NEC with Cisco and are slowly phasing it out but need the systems to work together to a certain degree.

Rep Power: 0 ![]() | For the record I'm not the lucky sales guy that gets to bag a $250k+ system. The customer has found a Cisco dealer for that, I'm the guy who has to bail out the Cisco guys that said it will work! Why are they pulling out a perfectly good NEC that still has the teats in the tires? The NEC dealer sold a krappy application and didn't follow up with addressing the customers needs. Single line phones at the managers desks???? Messy install, and poor follow up to make sure you met the customers basic needs, presto you lost a customer!!!! I have nothing against NEC. I installed them for 6 years and could build them as good or better than the rest. Since then I have my own shop and can't sell them because the idiot vendor that lost this customer has the lock on the dealership for 50+ square miles. Because of that I maintain NEC where needed and sell other flavors that haved worked well for me as an alternative. Believe me NLNICKLAL I get it TDM versus IP. I personally have have arguments with the competeing vendors in front of the customer about why putting a 3 com or Cisco in is a bad idea and VoIP in general. But I try not to get too worked up about it anymore and try to keep the customer happy so I get paid. Honestly I have had recent good experience with VoIP and have added it to my menu, I not ashamed to say it. Anyhow the question still stands will the NEC play nice with the Cisco in this application??

Rep Power: 6 ![]() | Whilst it may be possible to take an MCI feed to the new VM, I doubt the two will play nice. There shouldn't be any reason for this though. If they forward to the inskin VM then surely that is where the messages will be. and if they are still on the nec, why forward to the cisco VM. This is the basic problem with Cisco installs. The people selling them (in the main) don't understand telephony.
