Music On Hold Commands

My boss is considering installing music on hold on our 2000 IPS. The CPU card has an input jack on it.

When we installed the system, we had the installer turn off all music on hold after a few days because the buillt-in music was rather silly and corny. Our callers were making comments about it. Can't NEC put something else on that's professional? Now we have silence on hold.

What are the commands that will turn on the input jack so when we get a music source, it will work? Thanks!

Actually there are over ten options for the internal "canned" music on hold in the 2000 IPS. Only if you have a really old CPU, would you still only have the Madden's prayer and Fur else.

The command is 48

Y = 0 is where you enable it per type of call, and Y = 3 is where the other choices are.

In Y = 0 the setting data is 1400 for the jack you are referring to.

480>00>1400, = CO line type trunk
480>01>1400, = Tie line type trunk
480>02>1400, = Station calls

Make sure your input is 600 ohms, and there is a "pot" on the CPU that you can adjust the input volume, however I normally just adjust the input from the device.

How this helps,

Rick P

Yes this does help!! Thank you!!

I remember the Fur Elise and the Nocturn. After we changed a few of them, my boss made the comment that they all sound like a calliope at the circus. That's why we have silence on hold.

Now we're being courted by some music on hold vendors...actually, voice on hold....("All attendants are helping other callers, please hold the line...etc..."). It also has some pleasant background music.

I reminded my boss that we shut off all the music on hold and have to turn it all back on again. But I didn't remember how.
