Call Forwarding

Hi there, network guy for over 20 years but never had to support the phone system before so bear with me!!

How in the heck do you unforward an IP Phone? The phone guy installed an IP phone at a new desk and had forwarded all calls to the employees old desk until she moved. Well she moved and now needs to get her calls at the new desk. Any Help would be greatly appreciated!! It's a NEC Dterm IP phone sitting on her desk. The phone system itself is a NEC 2000 IVS. I tried reading the manual but it's greek to me!! I looked around in the Matworx but couldn't find it anywhere - does this have to be done from the phone itself? Thanks in advance!!

Easiest way to clear cfd is to dial the default cancel code from the phone that is fwd ( #5 ).

If you're going to admin this system you've got a long road ahead.

Thanks! Yes I realize that! I spent some time going through the 5 inch thick book over the weekend and also online doing research. Seems pretty complicated but I love a challenge. Any suggestions or tips on how to shorten the learning curve?

Nope. We all endured that learning curve. Its nasty. Hardest part of NEC is understanding the Japanese manuals.

Well it might not be around too long any as we have too many "ghosts in the machine" that our vendor can't figure out. Any recommendations on a good phone system? We already have about 20 IP phones - any advantage on moving to an IP system? We move offices quite often so the IP phones are nice to just unplug and then plug back in without having to do any changing around. I get tired of having to call the vendor to come down once a week to change a bunch of extensions around.

1. Get used to MOC and bin the GUI. (with a few exceptions)

2. Work out what you think you will do most often and learn the related commands. I have trained several end users to look after their systems and most can survive knowing the following commands:

10 or 14
11
9000
93
E600/603
7600/7601/7602
12xx
13xx
160
170/171/172
E50

3. When you learn something new script it in a .csv with relevant comments. Next time it will be easy init?

4. Use this forum. Free 24/7 tech support.....it's a no brainer.

NEC is an IP system.
