Rep Power: 0 ![]() | How to Change a Virtual Extension? I am new to MOC and the NEC world of phone systems. I want to change my Virtual Station 172 from 3004 to 3076. How do I go about doing this? I can see the value of 172 in MOC Command 11, but don't know how to change it's value. Any help would be greatly appreciated! ![]()

Rep Power: 6 ![]() | It is fairly simple. I am assuming you have entered 11 DE 172 DE and 3004 is displayed. simply enter the new number and press EXE. However I don't believe this is what you are actually trying to achieve as you could just as easily find a Virtual len with none against it and enter 3076 there. I assume you are trying to change the appearance of the number elsewhere. Get back to us with an explanation of what you want to do and we will guide you through it.

Rep Power: 0 ![]() | Thanks for the reply R4+Z. We are running out of Virtual Extensions, and I found about 20 or so that are no longer being used, and need to be reassigned. Currently we are using 255 out of 256 available. We are using CallCenterWorx for our ACD System. The previous phone guy assigned 3xxx Virtual Extensions for the ACD in place of the actual 1xxx extension that belongs to the ACD users. So say we have an extension 1055 that is setup as a DTERM. Button 1 on the phone is 1055, button 2 is 2055 and button 3 is 3055. The problem is, is that 6 of my ACD users do not have 3xxx Virtual Extensions assigned in the PBX. This forces the ACD to use Button 1 instead of Button 3 for the ACD calls. My guess is, is that our previous phone guy knew he was running out of Virtuals, but instead of cleaning up what wasn't being used, he simply ignored it and didn't assign a Virtual for these people. My new problem is that I found that 4 of my 6 ACD users cannot have a 3xxx Virtual because the 3xxx extensions have been assigned to physical ports (assuming). They are labeled as DTERM in the LEN list. For example I have an extension of 1076. I wanted to create a Virtual 3076, but can't because I recieve the message SEE CM10 522. I checked 522 in Command 10 and it comes back as F3076. I don't think that the DTERM Extension F3076 is being used by anything, but I don't know how to check to see if it is. How do I find out if it is a part of Hunt Group, Split Group, Etc.? I want to remove the extension F3076 from LEN 522 and reassign the number 3076 to the Virtual LEN V0172. How do I use MOC or MatWorx to find out if these 4 F extension I have are being used for anything? Last edited by arganos; September 26th, 2007 at 02:31 PM.

Rep Power: 6 ![]() | The biggest problem with finding out if they are in use is your newness to programming. Messing with groups is fraught with danger as you really have to know how to programme them in order to change them. I personally would just overwrite the numbers (Don't delete them) in Cmd 10 but others believe that can cause corruption. Whatever you do do a back up first. If you don't feel you can risk that, you need to check Cmds 16, 17, & 18 before you do anything else. If they exist in Cmds 16 & 17 you have to complete the circle in order for them to work and in cmd 18 you have to point the one before to the one after (really thats how you close the circle back up in the other two) to leave a working group. These are the only ones I know of that "MAY" cause problems when you overwrite the numbers in Cmd 10. Don't forget the new number will need the F prefix as well.

Rep Power: 0 ![]() | How do I check commands 16, 17, and 18? I just tried in MOC mode and was unsuccessful. I pressed the F9 key and Command= appeared. I typed in 16 and pressed F8 and got the message DIGIT ERROR. I got this same message for 17 and 18. Are there any good guides out there on how to navigate MOC? My company may send me to NEC training in Irving, TX, but the earliest I can get down there will be late November. Thanks for the help! ![]()

Rep Power: 6 ![]() | Commands consist of the initial command normally designated XX followed by a modifier Y or YY or even YYYY. First thing you need is a copy of the command manual. I don't see where you have told us the system type (IVS, IVS2 or IPS) but you can get a copy here..... http://www.wedophones.com/NecManualsLead.htm If you have an IPS you will either have to get a copy from NEC or make do with the IVS2 manual. The IPS is just the next generation IVS2 and most of the commands are the same, the IPS just gets more into IP telephony, however there are some differences but they don't apply here. To see the members of a group the command is XXY or for example 163 for call pickup groups 173 for ACD and 183 for hunt groups. Get a manual and start trying to follow what you learn here, it will mean so much more! I'll spell one out for you to follow... at the command prompt enter 163 DE Extn No DE the display will show your entry and the next in the group. continue with DE for the next and de again till you see END and you will have seen all the members of the group. If you see end immediately following the initial Extn No DE then the extn is not in a group! I'm assuming you know that DE means Data Entry or basically pressing the space bar. It's late down here so it's going to be a while before I can provide further help. Download a manual it will show you so much more (it may be possible to down load the IPS manual directly from NEC but I don't have the link to hand, I'll try and find it if that is what you have!
