Rep Power: 0 ![]() | SMDR Quit Working over Serial on IVS2 I'm a newbie, and recently inherited an NEC Neax IVS2 system that supports a call center with about 100 users. 2 weeks ago we hired a company to help install 2 new 8 station digital voice cards. Coincidence or not, the following day we quit recieving SMDR traffic from the AP00-B card. We've been working with this company off and on for the last two weeks, but we are at our ropes end. They had me reset the card, poke the eye on the CPU card, and various other trouble shooting methods with no avail. We've tried replacing the card, and the cable, and changed the speed / flow control of the serial data. The SMDR feeds our Call Accounting software, and we are desperate need of this data. When I hook a laptop up to the PBX via the serial cable to the AP00 card, and run hyperterminal, I get nothing. The LED's on the back of the AP00 card are dormant - except for the heartbeat LED. What could have happened, and what can we do to resolve this?

Rep Power: 5 ![]() | there are a set of commands you need to run when replacing the AP00 card in the manual it is refered to as 'initializing' the card. you may want to check with them that this has been done. I have had AP00 cards pack up in the past and most of the time they can be brough back to life by re-initializing the card. Out of interest what is the distance between the IPS and the terminal PC?

Rep Power: 0 ![]() | Thanks for the reply bobcheese. As far as I know, the reinitialization took place. They had me do a series of steps, but without having the book in front of me, I'm not 100% sure the sequence was followed correctly - they were walking me through everything over the phone. I've got the original card back in it with the orignal cable, and it's still no dice. The PC occupies the same rack as the PBX, so the distance is less than 3 feet. Everything was working perfectly until we added two new station cards. Right now I do not have the Callworx GUI software, and I am just about clueless when it comes to the CAT. I have no way of knowing what is going on inside the PBX at this point. I am hoping that it is something relatively simple, that it is a configuration SNAFU of some type in the PBX, but I don't know enough about the NEC system to determine what the cause of the problem is, let alone the cure. Any other suggestions you guys may have would be greatly appreciated. If someone could post up the proper procedures for resetting the card, and the appropriate CAT commands to verify the settings, I'm all ears. Thanks!

Rep Power: 0 ![]() | That is correct. However, we may have gotten a problem fixed. I am now getting SMDR data with the correct cable, but it appears we are getting outbound information only, and not inbound. The tech we had that was working with us opened a case with NTAC. NTAC instructed the tech to reintialize the AP00 card. Nothing we were doing appeared to be working. When NTAC discovered that the cable we were originally using was not a spec cable, they halted the troubleshooting process and told the tech we could not proceed until we got the correct cable. The correct cable was acquired, and as soon as it was plugged in, SMDR data began streaming again. Today I found out that we are not logging incoming calls. Is it neccessary to instruct the PBX to log inbound calls for SMDR, or does it automatically do it, and we have another problem here? Did the attempts to reinitialize the AP00 card have something to do with this? It was working normally before.

Rep Power: 5 ![]() | Yes you have to program this. Cm 1305:sta number: 0 = on ,1 = off (this is to provide smdr for ICC per station) Cm 3549:00-63trunk route number: 0 = On. (this is to provide smdr for trunk routes) Please note both of these have to be enabled for the smdr to output correctley. Hope this helps
