TOUGH TOUGH !! Phantom 911 calls

Hello good people, I am having a heck of a time trying to track down this problem. Every so often my system is dialing 911. And it is often from different trunks on the weekend when no one is around;so its hard to associate with the CO. I cant entertain the thought that 9 give you the trunk because some of these call come from an 8 or 2 access code. I looked at the cp00 card but am not sure if that is the source. But I can tell you that when I went in today and tried to back up the system it successfully saved but was unsuccessful in verifying the data I am leaing toward the crad because after talking to the 911 operator the said that when the call is made the here the hold music playing. But even stranger yet when I would sometimes come in on Monday mornings I would have the hold music as a voice mail left at my station, not only me but others in my district 100's of miles away. So if you have an Idea feel free to send it my way....Thanks

Could someone be trying to call out through your voicemail? 9+ number? Do you allow people to make call from inside their voicemail boxes?

I think I remember you posting this before...?

Still haven't found a solution?

Without using SMDR to track which stn's are making the calls, It's going to be tough.
I also would recommend looking at voicemail boxes to see if any are set to dial outside access codes instead of ext's?

What type of voicemail do you have?, and are you using copper trunks, PRi or Ip trunking?

I had a similar thing happen and as far as I recall, we had an analog station with rusty outlet. The pins in the outlet were making connections on-and-off (in other words they shorted out every once in a while), whcih resulted in ringing the Operator, and/or even calling 911. Our local 911 operator said that this had occured from other sites too: 911 calls from shorted out wires. If you have no other idea, take a look at your locked out analog stations, see if anything is in constant shorted out state, if you have SMDR, see which statinos are making these 911 calls, and take it from there.

Bad line can certainly cause this issue as phadobas said, so you better check the tel lines condition.
Also I may suggest to set your telephone type to DTMF only in command 1200, change to (2) all phones which are set to "1 or 3 "

You also want to make sure you dont have a DID number that is not doing it. I had one time a DID number ending with 9911. I had no destination set up for this so for some reason my PBX was sending the call back out and calling 911. I know it sounds strange but, the 911 dispatch office was getting one or two calls a week. The DID number was not assigned or published so all I can think of is that an Auto dialer may have had the number listed in a database and was calling it.
