Location: Outside Boston Mass Rep Power: 0 ![]() | I am new to phone systems. I am able to get our PBX access module open and do a few commands (ones our phone person showed me before she was gone, now I have to stumble through)I have two phones that do not have mailboxes that the indicator light won't go out. Thanks to this forum I have tried speaker *33, #33, etc with no luck. These are extensions that I knew the phone switch already had assigned. All I did was punch down the ports in the punch block. We have a Centigram voicemail system and these extensions do not have mailboxes.I can use F52, and F10 in PAM but do not know any other commands

Location: Outside Boston Mass Rep Power: 0 ![]() | We have a NEC NEAX 2000 IVS with PAM version 2.6. It was my mistake, like I said I don't know much about PBX's. The F10 is really F9 to get the commmand= prompt then type 10 to get the 10>prompt. This lets me know which port has an extension associated to it, if at all.

Rep Power: 4 ![]() | You are now going to have to search through the numbering plan (command 200) to find the code used in your system for message wait cancel. To do this, at the command prompt enter 200 De (we use De as an abbreviation for Data entry, I use the space bar for this but if you are used to using the F keys you should know which to use) then enter 0 De it should return some data or the word none. You then use the enter key to step on through to 9 and make a note of what each is set to. Any that have data beginning with a seven have been expanded out. So if for example for 5 you get 7XX then you have to try starting with 50 and step through to 59 again if for example for 52 you get 7XX then you have to do the same again starting at 520 and so on till you get no more 7s However you may be able to skip most of this and simply look at the * & # entries (entered as A & B in MOC mode) in the same way as above as they are the most common feature code starters. note don't forget to check the combinations of *s & #s eg **, *#, #* & ## The data you are looking for is A146 as this is the code for message reminder search. Whatever code is assigned A146 is what you then dial into the phone with the problem. This will display how many messages are set, you can then dial a 3 to cancel one message. If it said 3 messages you simply repeat the sequence another 2 times and the light should go out. Alternatively you can find the code assigned a data of A149 which is message reminder cancel the problem with that one is you don't know how many times you need to enter it. Finally if you don't find anything set to A146 or A149 then simply find a code set to none and enter that data for it. If you need more info on this process check here.... http://www.tek-tips.com/faqs.cfm?fid=6323 Sorry this was so long winded but hope it helps.

Rep Power: 4 ![]() | Thought I would enter this as a seperate entry. If my previous advice fails to rectify the problem then the odds are that there once was a voicemail box for the phone in question. The problem is that if the lamp was turned on via MCI then that is the only way it can be turned off. What you will have to do is set up a mailbox for the extension, leave a message, then listen to the message and let the voicemail clear the lamp.

Location: Outside Boston Mass Rep Power: 0 ![]() | R4+Z, thanks for all your help. The problem was me. As I said I am not an expert with phone systems. This extension did not have a voicemail box but it did have a account in our voicemail system. I compared it to another account that I removed the voicemail account on and the only difference was MWI (I know now it means message wait indicator) was set to none. I set it to 1 (NEC) and un plugged the phone then plugged it back in and that fixed it. Again I appreciate everything you guys did for me ![]()
