Improving quality of a 4/8/16/32 party conf on a Conf Trunk Card...

We've used a few instances of the 32 party conference card. We love the method of how it works - all 'meet me' in a nice trunk call and talk. However, we've found the quality of speech within that is really poor. Sometimes sounding somewhat like a heavily compressed VoIP call...

Is there any way to improve it, raise the volume etc...?

And is it possible to bolt anything to the connector on the card to improve it's usefulness? It says it's for a DSP, but can't find any reference in any manual to a daughtercard compatible with it?

Have you tested the quality of speech if all callers are from internal stations? Just wondering if the poor speech quality is coming from outside callers from which you have little control over the speech quality. If you are using PRI you can increase the volume on that but this will increase the vol for all calls not just ones into conf trunks.

I've played around with it a lot....sometimes with people over PRIs, but usually using direct calls out and back in again on the same circuit - so being a pretty good quality PRI call...

You just seem to get a hell of a lot of what sounds like noise cancellation effects where it chops out stuff almost like it thinks its unnessary.

I've played about with various commands that appear to raise the gain a little but nothing improves the quality....

I installed the conf card a few weeks ago and have had no complaints as of yet (touch wood).

As i notice you are also from uk can i ask if you used a script to install the card or programmed it manually? Also is it NEC processor or Philips?

We've tried it on both - but this one in particular was an R8 NEC Processor.....

Perhaps firmware on the card might help....

the one that I installed was R12 Philips MP and I used a script from the Philips Engineers CD. Like I said no complaints as of yet however will wait and see.

Just a thought, does the quality decrease as more people join the conf or does it stay the same?
