Group Message

every morning I send out a group voice mail to the to people in my office. That works fine but whoever receives that voice mail their phone will not ring until the message is cleared. Do you have any Idea what that could be?

I have never seen this issue on the SX-200 before... what software version is it running?

I know some early v1 and v2 softwares has some distribution list issues, but I can't remember exactly what they were.

What happens to calls to those extensions when they have a regular message waiting, will they ring then?

A little more detail might help to0... "will not ring" is not very specific, does the phone not AUDIBLY ring but the key flashes, does the system think the phone is busy or in DND (look in Maintenance/Reports/Status/B-S-C-SC when the phone won't ring), to poeple calling get ringback or just forwarded or an error? (think you can see where I am going here, just need more specifics)

Sorry English is not my first choice for a language but I am learning.

The Version that I am at is 4.0.8 I believe I will have to get into the system and double check.

When a regular message is in the box. They will ring both the phones and in the switch under monitor mode until the VM answers.

What I mean by "Will not Ring" when the message sent from another extension is in the inbox and then you try calling the Ext. it goes right to talking and then hangs up in the switch and never makes a sound from the phone. I’ve tried this on all of my extensions. Same result.

We have two analog phones in the office that use the same port. The Jacks are daisy chained. When I unplug one phone from the jack it will ring with the message in the box it will ring the phone until the VM picks up. I cannot change this configuration.

If I take that "bad phone" and plug it in where the "good phone" it still rings until the VM picks up.

If I remove the message from the inbox and plug both phones back to their original location the phone will ring until the VM answers.

These phones when the message is in the box have a message waiting light as well.

Am I not getting enough Voltage, Possibly? Is there a way in the switch to monitor voltage?

Please let me know if you need anymore info or if I need to clarify. Thanks so much!

Ring Voltage is the problem but now its only certain offices with two phones in them.

Do you really need to use Ringing Notification (Bells) for message waiting, or can you use MSG Waiting Lights?

Remember there is a limit on ASU and Per Nodes on how many phones can ring or have msg waiting per unit, see below from the Engineering Guidlines Handbook:

Maximum Ringing and Wake-up Calls
Maximum ringing and wake-up calls per system are dependent on the installed hardware. In all
systems, presence of any active message waiting lamps will reduce the maximum number of
ringing circuits by 25%,

SX-200 AX Controller
There is a hardware maximum of 12 simultaneously ringing ONS ports per 24 port ONSP card.
The AX also has a system-wide ringing limit of 96 ONS ports, lower than the limit of 12 ports
per card.

The same limit applies to wake-up calls on ONS ports. Maximum simultaneous wake-up calls
is 12 per 24-port ONSP card and a maximum system capacity of 96 wake-up calls.

SX-200 MX Controller with Peripheral Nodes

There is a hardware maximum of 20 simultaneously ringing ONS ports per Peripheral Node.
The same limit applies to wake-up calls on ONS ports. The maximum simultaneous wake-up
calls is 20 per Peripheral Node.

SX-200 ICP with ASU II Bays

There is a hardware maximum of 12 simultaneously ringing ONS ports per 24 port ONSP card.
Maximum ASU II capacity is 24 (12 ringing ports x 2 ONSP cards).
The same limit applies to wake-up calls on ONS ports. The maximum simultaneous wake-up
calls is 24.
-----------------------------------

Remember that Message Waiting - Bell is NOT supported on ASU ONS ports. There is also a limitation on how many ONS stations can have msg waiting notification lights and bells per Peripheral Bay, but I cannot remember what it is off the top of my head and I can't find it quickly (something tells me it is either 20 or 31 per peripheral node though, but I am not sure)
