Hunt group to Voicemail

Greetings. Apologies for the following, simple question.

On our Mitel 3300, i have created a hunt group, added 2 members which works fine except now the user wants the call to go through to voicemail if unanswered or engaged.

so, do i just create a new mailbox for the hunt group and have them record a greeting or is there more to it than this?

thanks, chris

create a mailbox with the 'extension' field set to the pilot number of the hung group. You will also need to do call rerouting to tell the system when you want to send calls to voicemail (busy, no answer etc).

I've done this with many hunt groups but always had the same issue, how do you set the system to notify someone of any voicemail for the hunt group?

thats the tricky bit! You can try adding a MW key to a IP set but i'm not sure if this works for hunt groups. To be honest when I do voicemail for hunt groups I try and push for voicemail to email as the advanced voicemail option is now FOC from mitel. Makes things much easier

Ooo, FOC now? How do I get that? Always wanted it but could never get the expense signed off!
Are there any pre reqs?

Back to the original question about the msg waiting...

You cannot have a Msg Wt key for a Hunt Group, it won't work, what does happen is when a message notification is sent from the voicemail to a hunt group, it will light the lamp of the first (prime) member in the hunt group.

No real pre-reqs to voicemail to email, only that you have advanced voicemail feature and have a email server that will allow SMTP without authentication. Double check that you don't already have this, it used to be included in many software bundles and no one ever realized it (in the US anyways).

thanks for all your replies. on the call rerouting, do i create a first alternative (say number 3) pointing to the voicemail path and then assign the hunt group 1st alternative to number 3?

betski, yes that would be correct.

Jameskemp, i'm afraid that you will have to ask your maintainer about that! All new sw packages come with Advanced vmail & tennanting by default now so as far as I am aware you would put an order in to mitel for £0.00 for advanced vmail license and hey presto !
