5224 as a Mitel SIP phone against 3300

Hi,

I am trying to connect a Mitel 5224 running in SIP mode to a Mitel 3300. I have other Generic 3rd party sip phones running against the system already (i.e. Polycom Soundpoint 601), but would like to get the 5224 to work AS A SIP PHONE. (I know it can do MINET, but that is not what I want.) Is this possible / supported?

When I try to register with the 3300 I get *NO REG* and Page Not Found messages on the phone. Looking at a network sniff I can see that I am getting 403 Forbidden messages from the server. Is there anything special I need to do on the phone or in the Call server to get this to work?

The firmware on the phone is already R7.0.07.00.00.08. This seems newer than what I see on the web so I don't think downgrading makes sense? Any ideas?

Thanks,

bigbadbillyc

I found the answer to my own question. I had entered my SIP PROXY and SIP REGISTRAR as 172.029.102.170. That is the correct address, but the Mitel system apparently didn't like my leading 0 in the .029 part of the address. I had to enter this as 172.29.102.170. (There went 5 hours of my day.....but at least it's working!)

As for the page not found message, that was due to the RSS feed that can be found on the advanced tab of the phone. The network I had the phone on is not using dns so this link was failing. I suppose you could just add a DNS server, but I didn't care about the feed, so I simply removed the RSS feed address and the issue went away.
