Mitel 3100 ICP Software recovery

Hi

I have just aqquired a Mitel 3100 ICP. I have just gone to boot the unit up and it just sits there with a flashing red power light. Now i jave attached a console and watched the boot up. It seems to be failing as it says it can't load the software. I'm assumin that the person that i aqquired this off has wiped the software of the unit. Now i have a couple of CD's with the unit that seem to have the software installed. My question is how do i reinstall this software?

I can't reach the person that sold me this unit at the moment as he is out of the country... So i'm turning to you.....

Rgds

phil, can you tell us what the message loop in maintenance is when the system is booting? you will see the system trying to load the software and failing. then it will try again, and again, etc.

Hi,

I have now managed to get this unit to boot. I reseated the HDD and the Compact flash and it boots fine now. The only problem is that a few of the phones i have do not boot, they are 5212's and the error messages refers main missing. I'm assuming this is the firmware required for the phone, although the systems tells me it supports the phone, when set up the extension. Does anyone now how to solve this?

I'm running v4 software on the ICP 3100

Rgds

Phil,

are you using static or DHCP. I think the main missing may refer to the 3100 but not sure.

Hi, i'm using DHCP. I have a 5215 that boots ok. But the 5220 and 5212 come up with this "Main unavaiable" error.

Also i have 1 5215 that seems to be stuck in Static mode. Do you know how to put in DHCP mode?

if you reboot the phone and hold the up arrow key down for 5 seconds you should get into phone setup where it will ask you is you want to enable/disable static settings.

I would try the 5212's in static mode. give them an address outside of the DHCP range and point the options for system and TFTP server at the 3100 IP Address and see what you get.

Thanks for that it helped.

I have another problem with a 3300 now..... It has been powered down for sometime and i have just gone to powe rit up and by the looks of it the backup battery has failed so all the boot parameters have been lost. Could some one detail what the default ones are for it to boot from ata. The drive has Version 8.0.8.8 installed....
