SX50 Programing via hyperterminal ?

Hi, brand new here, and brand new to anyform of PBX as programmer. AS a collector of old phones I was looking for something that support LD and MF phones to connect them all together hence the SX50. I currently do not have the console to program it with, and wondered if anyone could give me a very simpe idiots guide to doing this via hyperterminal. If nothing else, being able to set Timed Break recall would be very welcomed. Please understand this is very much a brand new concept to me

Many thanks

Andy

Hello Andy, not overly sure on this but suspect that you will need a universal card in there, dont know if this is just for remote access though. I know that there is a call logging port on there but cant remember any RS232 for programming.

the SX50 did not have a comm port for programming. It had a built in modem. So you had to dial in via a modem, even if you were sitting beside the unit. But I don't remember too many particulars on how to reach the modem.

The SX-50 cannot be programmed with Hyperterm or other terminal program when directly connected. The RS-232 port on the backboard is for printer output and system backup/restore procedures.

To program via modem, you need a Universal card with a RMATS module, it is a 300 baud 7/E/2 connection. It can be accessed in a default database by dialing x498, or being transferred from outside the system to x498, then connect with modem, press enter several times, the system responds with RMATS and asks for RMATS Security Code, by default it is 0246813579, and then system/user security code, it will then ask Terminal Type, enter S for screen or P for printer. You will then get a menu of sorts...

Programming this way is SLOW and kludgy, still requiring you enter register numbers, etc, it is not a menu interface like other systems. RMATS on the SX-50 is good for just that, REMOTE maintenace and changes. If you are local, program through a console or better yet a Superset 4, it is much faster and easier, I could probably program a complete system in 1/4 of the time via phone over using the modem.
