RAD Ports "going to sleep" - ideas?

The present 3300 system has the first three voice mail ports assigned as RAD ports. We are finding that these go to sleep (DND?) at least once a day. It messes up the ACD path as callers just hear ringing, no announcements or MOH.

I can reset them by doing a remote Clear All Features, but I want to know what the cause is so that I can fix it until the new Avaya system is up.

Any ideas on the cause or a more permanent cure?

this may not be valid, but... On the SX2k, when you set up RAD ports you would have to specify the message length timer, normally a second longer than the message. I dont think this is valid but do check the COS for the ports and look for message timers.

Thanks for the pointer! There are several timers listed, and the instructions in the on-line help are a bit cryptic. I can't find a manual akin to the Avaya "Feature Description" manual, so it's been fun trying to make sure I have it right.

I checked the timer you specified and made some changes. I think I have them all set correctly now - they have not gone to sleep in several days. But our local vendor told me they sometimes do so randomly. Wonderful hardware.

I am so glad we are replacing this thing with an Avaya (S8500 or S8700, still deciding). Setting up a TN2501AP (or any of the old annocement cards) is so much easier than the way this Mitel stuff is rigged up. It's like it was an afterthought for Mitel, and they require the user to program things that the base software should be able to figure out on the back end.

I spoke too soon. One of them went to sleep on me again.

Does any have a complete list of the interactions of all of those timers?

Embedded RAD ring no answer or DND Publish Date
Oct-3-2005

Description/Symptoms
Embedded RAD does not answer ( ring no answer) or in Do NOT Disturb (DND)

Body/Solutions
If a incoming call is blind-transfered to an Embedded RAD, the embedded RAD will experience "ring no answer" and/or "Do Not Disturb" conditions.

Solution:
1. Make sure that embedded RAD port is in a RAD Hunt group
2. Program the phase timer of RAD hunt group to be 1s or higher
3. Make sure the all calls are transferred to the RAD Hunt group and no one should call directly to RAD port

That's interesting - if a RAD is called directly it can go to sleep. I just checked that and everything in the path is set to the RAD hunt group.

Then I checked the phase timer. The one that goes to sleep most often had nothing set - the others were set to 1s. I set it to 1s, let's see what happens now.

Thanks for posting that information!

More Info from system log

I had two of them go to sleep on me, and I found the following entries

Software3682Warning2007/Sep/1208:39:35Call Control - SoftwareCPRADP has placed a RAD in DND. RAD Extension: 1001
Software3680Warning2007/Sep/120840Call Control - SoftwareCPRADP: RAD failed to answer. RAD Extension: 1001

There are matching entries for the other one that went to sleep. Does anyone know their error reporting well enough to see what the cause is? If so, I'd love the help.

Hmmmm, re-record the RAD and see what happens, make sure timers are right and good luck. If it continues try reporting to Mitel mate.
