Rep Power: 0 ![]() | About a year ago, we upgraded from a 10yr old 200SX to a 200icp. This has been great as we can do some IP stuff and upgrade desktop phones either to 4000 digitals or 5200 IP phones. The issue is that we are still using the original voicemail called Corporate Office which was originally made by Verbatim, then Key Voice Systems. The system works fine, but there aren't any upgrades and although the voicemail and PBX are integrated, there are 2 separate databases. Also, the voicemail can't be accessed remotely. I would like to get a new voicemail system and not sure if should go with Mitel' Integrated voicemail product or another stand alone integrated solution. We have about 175 mail boxes and need a min of 8 ports. Any suggestions?

Location: Kitchener, Ontario Rep Power: 5 ![]() | Personally and since your IP comment is one of common ground to today's ideal ... go 'embedded' !!!! You may have a slight learning curve because the user interface is most likely different from that you are using today; (ie: press the 7 (p) to play your message), but he optional software applications along with this are incredible for the cost. Embedded voicemail is licensed per mailbox alone. Once you purchase a single mailbox on the system, you have full access to the standard voicemail application. A 200 mailbox purchase can be quoted by your supplier. The DSP component installed determines the number of ports along with your system sizing configuration at install. Your supplier can assist in further understanding this concept. In quick form, you have 5 variations that your 200IPC was installed as, business 1, business 2, hospitality, analog 1 or analog 2. This config along with the quantity of DSP's installed will detemine the number of voicemail ports available ... a business 1 with a quad DSP would give you 8 -16 ports voicemail generally. Now, the second key point is you will now have a single database to manage for survivability and/or DRP (disaster recovery plan). This component becomes part of your ftp database backup. It includes all the user names and greetings OR you can back the entire system with voicemail names/greetings and recorded end-user messages. Simply FTP service that can now be duplicated to any off-site storage option you have for your data backup as well. nitty-gritty stuff ... When looking at going embedded you should option the ADVANCED VOICEMAIL license and get the really neat tools that make the embedded system worth its value ... 1. smtp voicemail option - email your voicemail messages to your users - wicked IP app#1 2. record-a-call option - single key press to record conversations at the desktop and/or automatic recording of conversations that are automatically forwarded to email and deleted ... for those call center/sales/service queues we all have in our business today. 3. visual voicemail option - display phone users get softkey control over the primary voicemail user functions like play, delete (aka discard/erase), etc. Before you leap into any decision, you have to review this option! It is a must for its value. hopin' this helps, Cheers [[]]D
