Problem:

I have multiple Octel 250s dangling off of Nortel Option11's all using networking on different CLEC's PRI through the country. One site was recently ported to a new PRI which runs NI2 over an IP based switch. Everything works fine including direct and four digit dialing in and having VM pick up, leaving messages, etc... except sending messages from within this Octel to other Octels at other sites and vis versa fails. The messages are returned with an error. The logs on the Octel show "line quality" issues even though the PRI is running clean.

After spending days with both the CLEC and the Octel Maint. Group, it was determined that a feature on the new gen PRI called "Call Echo Suppression" is causing the problem. For some reason it doean't allow the Octel to connect the call or complete the message forward to another Octel even though the PBXs connect the call fine. Has anyone heard of this issue? Is this a known issue between Octel250 and new IP based PRIs?

The issue was difficult to pinpoint and troubleshoot because both vendors were suprised at the problem and had never before seen it.

Is there an Octel patch for this? I'm trying to get the Make and Model number of the IP based CO switch from the CLEC...any help will probably save my job...

Octel250 "Technical Diff" with New Gen PRI on IP S

When the CLEC turns off "call echo suppression" on on of teh B channels and we vorce messages over that channel all messages succeed 100% of the time. The CLEC though is hesitant to turn the "call echo suppression" off on all 23 channels though because it will result in "poor voice quality and line echo."

I obviously don't want to create another problem by solving this one..but it has become a critical issue.

You can always go to Digital networking. LAN card inthe 250s and the messages are sent over your WAN. Only works to other Aria 250/350 systems.
