We have a Octel 250 averture voicemail system. We want to turn on feature 46 (reset passwords). When this system was purchased they did not have it turned on. I can not get Avaya to give me the info and they will not do it because they cannot find my system in their records. Is there someway to find the default admin. password so we can do this ourselves.

Toll Fraud

I have an Octel 250 as well and if I am correct which is rare, your screwed, unless you know a really good hacker. As for Avaya, if you bought it from them then you should be able to contact the sales rep and kick his butt. But do let me know what happens anyway, especially if you find out how to get that damn Super Admin Password that Avaya never wants you to know about.
Good luck.

I'm guessing this is a grey market product...which Avaya will not support.

One option would be to contact a local Avaya business partner to get the system "legaled up". Since the product was probably sold second hand, it is offically unlicensed...and in order to get Avaya to support the unit you'll need to get it certified (i.e. pay for whatever functionality you're using).

Now if being offical & legal doesn't matter much to your company then here's what I would try:

Now my first order of business would be to do a google search for the default passwords.

After trying that route, then I would try contacting alternate vendors who support Avaya products but are not affiliated with Avaya. One example would be Walt Medak Associates in Portland, OR (www.wma.com)
