Messaging question?

Well once again I am here. I am new to the modular messaging most of what I did was with Difinity and Octel. I was wondering if someone can break it down for me. This is the sample of one setup we have. What does the MSS,MAS,TRACE,WSO do?

Thanks soo much.

I can answer some of your questions.

MSS - where messages are stored

MAS - interface to PBX, this is where the subscribers live

Trace - this is a separate computer that can provide info about voice mail activity

WSO - does not ring a bell right now, if no one else answers I will be back

WSO stands for Web Subscriber Option and is a separate computer like the Trace server and provides another way to access MM. It is an option available with MM3+.

Thanks Marty that was awesome. Just one question. So the MAS - is the interface to PBX, this is where the subscribers live. So this is where the call comes in and the subscriber choses his options?

Yes, all applications are processed in the MAS. Messages are also buffered here if there is a problem storing them on the MSS. The vast majority of all your admin tasks will be through the MAS.
