Adding Ports to Modular Messaging. How?

Hello I am new to all this. My boss wants me to add ports to our messaginf system with the least impact to the company. At this moment we have 3 MSS and to each MSS there are 3 MAS.

So we have to take down one by one. We will start with the first MSS. Most of the people on that MSS acces their messages after 5pm. But I do not know how to add the port and if there is a way to re route the call so they may still get their messages when the MSS is down.

In other words HELP! Any suggestions and a step by step on how to add the ports?

Thank sooo much..

You have a very large MM system so I am going to guess your ports are on T1s. Do you already have the DS1 cards to add?

You state that you are new to Modular Messaging, I would not recommend this be where you start learning the system. Especially if you want this change to have the least impact to your company. I suggest that you get Avaya or an Avaya Business Partner involved. They will know how to do this and can also verify that you have room in your license and right-to-use for additional ports.

Yes we have T1.

I have 10 port cards here. My boss says that we have room for the licence. I downloaded the instructions from Avaya on adding a port card. Since we have 3 MAS maybe this will reduce the impact if I do one at a time. Any sugestions?

I thought that I had MM docs on my computer, but since it was replaced I have not loaded those docs yet so I cannot verify exactly what to do. You have the instructions, they should say something about what to do with multiples MAS. I do not want to steer you wrong and try to do this from memory (this particular task I have not done for over a year). Give Avaya a quick call.
