Getting digital phone with my Merlin Model 410 PBX

It's about 20 years old. Am I out of luck getting it to work? Or are there some settings I can change on it to get it to work with digital phone?

What "digital phone" are you trying to use?

ALL phone systems use proprietary phones. ie, phones designed to be used with the control unit. So, a Merlin 410 is designed to use Merlin phones.

Sorry, was talking about the actual phone service. I'm getting phone service through my cable provider.

Ah, then the cable provider will install an "ETMA" which will have an RJ-11 jack to provide the dial tone. Patch this to the Trunk port on your Merlin, and you're good to go.

If you're going to have more than a couple of lines, they might hand it off on a 66-block, and you would run cross connect jumpers to the Merlin.
