Rep Power: 0 ![]() | Hello, I am trying to program direct line appearances at the X10 operator station of a Merlin Legend with MLX telephones. Currently some of the lines are programmed (801,802,803, 806, 809). I would like to organize them in order as well as have all 12 lines appear. I could not find the procedure in the manual. Thanks!

Location: Boston MA Rep Power: 0 ![]() | Legend MLX-20 Line Layout. Remember how a MLX-20L is laid out: ![]() An Operator extension by default has only 2 SA buttons, on button 1 and button 2. Let’s say that all 12 lines (801 through 812) are in pool 70. If you go to Extensions > Lines and Trunks, then the Extension Number, you will see lines 1 through 12 light up (can't remember if it is the red or green light). If the lines are already assigned to the extension, they will BOTH be lit up. So if the lines are NOT assigned, you press JUST Line 801. Remember that while programming, 801 is located on button 1, while on the actual phone, button 1 has an SA assigned to it. As soon as you touch 801, 801 through 812 all light up at the same time, with both lights. You have automatically added all 12 lines to the phone. Here's how they will be laid out: 803_______808_____Blank_____Blank 802_______807_____812_______Blank 801_______806_____811_______Blank SA-Voice__805_____810_______Blank SA-Ring___804_____809_______Blank So you can see that it will automatically add them from bottom to top to the next available button. If the lines are NOT in a pool, you can just touch each line in order, and it will go onto the NEXT AVAILABLE button. So, you would touch Line 1 (which puts itself onto button 3), Line 2 (button 4), Line 4 (button 5), Line 5 (button 6) and so on. Now for a custom layout: Blank______801______806______811 Blank______802______807______812 SA-Out_____803______808______Blank SA-Voice___804______809______Blank SA-Ring____805______810______Blank The only thing that a line won't overwrite is another line or a SA button So, FIRST, you need to take the lines OUT of the pool, so that you can "address" then individually. Remember the layout of the phone by default - SA on buttons 1 and 2, nothing on any other button. 1st, remove any existing lines Now jump to the page with lines 61 through 80. Assign line 63, 64, and 65. They will go onto buttons 3, 4, and 5. The NEXT line you assign will go onto button 5, because it is the next available blank button. So, pop back to the Line 1 through 20 page, and assign lines 5, 4, 3, 2, and 1 in that order. Now assign Lines 10, 9, 8, 7, and 6 in that order. You can see how it is filling in the buttons, but now if we assign Lines 11 and 12, they will end up on buttons 16 and 17. So, back to the page with lines 61 through 80. Add line 76, 77, and 78. That fills in buttons 16, 17, and 18. Go to the Lines 1 through 20 page, add Lines 12 and 11 in that order. Finally, go back to the Lines 61 through 80 page, and REMOVE lines 63, 64, 65, 76, 77, and 78. Exit out, go to Centralized Telephone Programming, add the SA-Out Only button, and set the Auto Line Select to the 3 SA buttons. Whew!! Now, you could use ANY lines as the "placeholders", but I like to use that last page since there are usually not that many lines in use. You could also use ANY line on that page as a placeholder, but I like to use the lines that correspond to the button positions. Think of how you would do it for a 4424LD+ Magix phone! Buttons 22, 24, 26, and 28 don't physically exist on the phone, but in programming they are there. But you are programming from a 20 button emulation in WinSPM, so you have to juggle a whole bunch of place holders. Oh, and if you remove all the lines from a pool, any reference of a pool belonging to a Calling Group, or assigned to a button on a non-Operator set will be erased. SO, before you remove the lines from the pool, add some other non-existent line to the pool, remove the real lines from the pool, make your line assignments, add the lines back to the pool, then remove the non-existent line from the pool. Don't make a new Operator position after all this, or all the Operators will default to the standard button layout and you'll have to start all over! Luckily, once you set up one Operator station, you can use Line Copy to get them on the other phones.
