Every extension rings when main number is called on Merlin Magix

Hello,

I am new to administering PBX's the last place I worked we had Avaya IP Office, now I have another job and there is a Merlin Magix PBX.

The problem I am having is that when someone calls our main number every extension in the office rings, not just the phones at the front.

Only about 8 phones should be ringing. I dont have the software to connect to the PBX from a computer but we have one main phone where I do some configuring.

Does anyone know how I can stop every extension from ringing from the main number?

You ask a tough question, because we all have answers but we would need to see the programming to tell you how to stop the ringing. I guess that the site has the main line ringing all the phones, or there is a group with all the extensions added to the group ringing when a call comes in to your office. If you get the idea that there are multiple ways that this could be happening.

The best way is to go to your console and check out the programming from one of the phones you want to ring and one that you do not want to ring.

If you have a printer set up on your switch I am pretty sure you can do a print out from the console, or at least your could on a Merlin system.

Good Luck,

All phones could be ringing main number calls for 2 reasons off the top of my head.1. could it be in night mode and all extensions are in the exts group.2. if in PBX mode, all lines in pool 70, all phones have a pool 70 buttonIf you need some programming help call Phyllis Smith 972-733-0293
