merlin legend mailbox

could anyone tell my why an extension will not cover to voicemail or even a direct to mail. the extension just rings and never goes to mail. the mailbox has been created but will not pickup. if you choose direct to mail you recieve wave off tone...??? thanks

I am assuming that this is only one extension with the problem. If this is true, try rebuilding the extension. Also, what happens if you call the voicemail extension directly, does voicemail answer?

Also, I know in audix you can shut off a mailbox. This maybe the same thing happening to you, check to see if it needs to be turned back on to receive calls. Unless of course you have already rebuilt the mailbox.

you've got to tell the phone system that there is a mailbox in the voice mail to cover to when the extension is busy. This is also why you get the wave off tone when trying to use Direct to Voice Mail -

There are 30 Coverage Groups in the Merlin Legend/Magix system, and any one of them could be the voice mail coverage group. The two most commonly used groups are 30, and 1.

Go into programming at the programming phone, Menu, System Programming, Start (or Exit)

Now press Extensions
Press the Right Arrow button (or More)
Press Group Cover
dial 30 and press Enter
Press Inspect - If you see all the other extension numbers that have mailboxes, you've found the right group. If not, press Back, and try again with Group 1. Keep trying groups until you find the one that you need.

Finally, back up, Group Cover, the Group Number, Enter, the Extension Number, Enter, and it will be added to the group, and all will be well
