Do Any Moderators Post here?

Are Merlin's 4 pair systems? YOu don't have to connect 4 pairs for it to work do you?

I think you can make them work on two pair instead of four...

TTY Port Problems

Merlin systems need all four pair to work. You hook them up color to color. In other words wire them like you would cat 5 hook ups.

For my Merlin 7.0 setup I use the Blue/White for the first pair and the White/Green for the second pair (for my MLX10D phones). I believe that the four pair setup is for a phone with an adjunct. Then again, if you use allot of adjuncts I would go ahead and x-connect all four pairs on all station wires and be done with it. Later

Hunting on CICS 4.1

Using 568-B wiring:

An MLX phone requires 2 pairs (Blue and Green). If it has a DSS or Adjunct it also requires the Orange pair.

An ATL phone requires 3 pairs (Blue, Orange, and Green). If you will be using the Off-Hook Voice Announce feature the Brown pair from the jack is wired to the Blue pair of the next station port and programmed as such.

Some of these post are talking about Merlin four pair systems and some are talking about the Merlin legend they are different systems. It depends on what system you are dealing with as to how many pairs you will use.

Second PRI being installed

It's best to wire all 4 pairs. However you can get away with using the center 2 pair (blue and green 568B) and you will only loose voice announce on busy, a feature that is hardly used.
