Can you say psycho?

i need help again :P

the boss has requested DISA to be configured on my switch while they do some testing from another site... they are aware of the risks of having disa.. so no need to remind me about that..

ive configured DISA, i can dial the number, i get a tone, i enter the pin code i programmed into the DISA and i get "nortel" dailtone.. this is where i have my problem.. i cant get it to dail out..

any idea what is wrong.. do i need to configure a special route / trunk? if so please help.. this is the first time ive used disa as ive always been told its evil / bad and a big no no

what other features of disa are there?

Are you leading with a 9? (or whatever your access code is) I screwed myself up for awhile by trying to direct dial numbers without the 9. Are you using any DISA digit insertion? (Prompt DGTS)

I too have been told that DISA is a big bad ugly thing and never to use it. How bad is it if you're using DISA with a security code? (SCOD) I've built a few with the SCOD set to an 8 digit number and tried to break through them with no success.

Discuss...

DISA is as secure as you make it. It does expose you to the outside world, and a person can break the DISA codes with standard brute force tactics.

If you do use DISA, monitor it closely, make sure it is as locked down as possible, and give it to as few people as possible. Here are some enforecemnt rules I have seen folks use inthe past.

DISA number changes MONTHLY
Pin numbers change after 30 days - No reuse of old pins
I have actually seen some one configure it in a second customer, run a PRI between them, then make the user run through DISA 2 times. Ok, that seems a little overboard to me, but thats what made them happy! Who am I to judge.....

Bottom line...BE VERY CAREFUL and TEST EVERYTHING TWICE!

Go Granny Go!!

Are the NCOS (if equal to FRL in the ESN block) and CLS of your incoming trunks sufficient to access the outbound RLI, according to your RLI requirements (i.e., FRL, MFRL, and what about any DMI that may be conflicting?)
