desktop messaging revisited

Ok,

Here's the deal your receiving calls that multiple phones are dead, quick look shows that the individual TN's are on different loops. When you stat the loops all report that they are ENBL'd.

Question is "What would you look at next, Why?"

ARRRGGHH!!!!

Seems obvious to me but I'd appreciate your opinions responses.

Thanks in advance!!!!

Jack

Not enough information - but based on what you say:
1. Bad TDS
2. Bad DTR board (if phones are analog).
3. Not enough call registers configured.
4. Cut cable.

Seems obvious to you because you have additional info that we don't. like maybe all the phones are on one floor or in one building or maybe all phones are in the accounting dept.

set name when using the second DN

Well if this were in my part of the countryduring the spring or fall i would first say to myself "did we have a lightning strike?" and check the surge protectors on each TN. That is the most common reason for this happening here.

Also I would need to know, are they all in the same building? Are they all digital or analog or a mix?

The first thing i would ask myself is,"What DO they have in common. Also, just FYI Jack, questions are easy, it's the answers that can drive you up a wall!!!

Chassis number of Meridian 61c...pls help

Ok, the other info.

81C 25.30 software 3 networkgroups.

Analog & digital are affected.

Phones are scattered amongst 5 floors.

The intent of the ? was more so to see how someones troubleshoots a problem, asking for additional info. is a good sign!!!

So....

What would you look at next, Why?

Thanks !!!

Jack

ps J, LOL!!!

NAM channel upgrade question

Ok Jack - I misunderstood your intent at the start - thought you were expecting instant possiblities.
So my next questions might be(depending on the answers):
1. What TNs specifically are affected? Even though you say all loops stat idle we haven't ruled out a controller or a PE power supply.
2. Are there any messages on the TTY?
3. Do the TNs work at the frame?
4. Do the digital TNs pass the UNTT test?
5. Do the analog TNs have talk battery?

Have you checked the phones from the point of demarcation at your switch??

With the digital sets, we have a old 2008 w/o display that we use to check our digital lines. We disconnect the cross-connect wires and plug the quick disconnects directly into the TNB block. If we get the digital blink and a dial tone, were happy. Then puch down the cross connect wires back where they were and work our way up. Sometimes, even re-punching them back down works.

Isn't their a command you can use to get the serial number, type of phone, etc... on digital phones (or is it the same as the 3904 FWVU xx x xx xx)?

Jack is talking about many phones going out at the same time not just one phone.

The command your talking about is IDU.
