Hi all, I have an overstuffed option 81c, rel 24.40. I have an IPE shelf supl 68 that runs my companion phones. These phones use CMLC Cards.
My question is can I integrate DLC's on this shelf. I have available slots 11 through 14. Thanks

Thanks Jack!
Hopefully I can stretch these to last to next year when I add more network groups and upgrade.

You may want your CMLC cards assigned to slots 0 and 1 which are the "High" priority input buffers and signaling. This will minimize input buffer delay for high prority signaling.

The CMLC cards fill slots 0 through 10, leaving 11 + open. I hate having to dip into this otherwise Companion only shelf, but their lack of spending the bucks, and or listening to me when I said we are getting tight, has forced me to do this. Hospital budgets are for the birds!

Just curious, why do you want a Comp. only shelf?

I'd think spreading the companions through out the system would avoid a big problem should that shelf go down.

Just wondering.

Think of Companion as a system-within-the-system. The CMCC/CMLC/CMRC/CMBC are connected via a short faceplate connector which limits them to being side-by-side or span across one XPEC.

Yeah those grey interconnect cables limit you to what you can do.
It kinda makes a pretty robust redundant system into a single point of failure system. Almost as good as them having prim and backup dch's sharing the same MSDL. 5 month's into this gig for this place, and I knew day one, I had my hands full.
We are slowly getting away from the Companions, and using Spectralink phones as replacements. So hopefully, one year I will have that whole shelf back, yeah right.

Thanks for the info.

I should have posted I've never really played with a live companion setup so it should have dawned on me, but didn't.
