Location: Houghton, NY Rep Power: 7 ![]() | Option 61C newbie questions Quickly: Do you have the nortel books? If not I would order a copy of the MERL cd based on the release of Nortel software you are running on your 61. 1. Study LD 10 in the Administration book (analog sets/500). Chas2002 has made an example of this in http://nortel.pbxinfo.com/index.php?...splay&ceid=11# 2.Study LD 11 in the Administration book 3.Depends on what voicemail product you have... MerMail, Call Pilot, Octel, Active Voice, ect. 4.Always print the current settings before making changes. This is a good partice to keep in case something you change causes a problem. Study LD 11 as there are many different functions you can assign to a key. If you post back with a specific example of what you would like to change we will give you instructions. 5. The most lamen way I can describe a loop is to describe it as an organizational unit of shelfs, cards, and units. Each device that attaches to your option 61 has a TN. For phones and trunks, these TNs are broken down into LLL S CC UU. Where L is the loop, S is the shelf, C is the card, and U, is the unit being used on that card for the device. A Trunk is a basically a entity that connects two points. ie. Your phone system and your local telephone company.

Location: Lou, KY Rep Power: 9 ![]() | Trivia... You can go to NortelNetworks.com and click on product documentation. Then choose the Meridian Family of products. You can then click on links that will take you to NTPs with specific information for you. I believe that you have to register with the site but, that shouldn't be too much of a hassle. You really need to familiarize yourself with the documentation in the Administration Guides before you begin to program. Until then, I would caution against the trial and error method of learning the switch, as much as is possible. If you have a vendor, I would hawk them everytime they come through the door and read, read, read the NTPs, this site, and other Nortel PBX specific literature. You can never know enough. The better educated you are the better the system runs and the more life you can stretch out of the components. Good Luck! rachelle

Location: Houghton, NY Rep Power: 7 ![]() | Thanks, Rachelle, for giving him that info. We cannot stress enough how important it is to read the Nortel documentation as well as printing the current settings of anything you are planning to change. a, I am a bit confused about your full number of 577-xxxx. Do you have direct inward dialing for the complete 577 exchange?

Step 1: Print the current settings Login to your system LD 11 REQ prt TYPE TNB TN (Enter the TN your phone is programmed on LLL S CC UU, ie. 4 0 12 9) Enter through remaining prompts Print the information on your screen in case you need to change things back. Now we are going to setup your phone with the key settings you have above. REQ chg TYPE (enter model of phone. Ie. 2616) TN (enter the TN of the phone) ECHG yes ITEM KEY 00 SCR xxxx (where xxxx is the extension you want to ring) KEY 01 CFW 4 KEY 02 AO6 KEY 03 TRN KEY 04 RGA KEY 05 ADL 16 KEY 06 ADL 16 KEY 07 ADL 16 KEY 08 ADL 16 KEY 09 ADL 16 KEY 10 ADL 16 KEY 11 ADL 16 KEY 12 ADL 16 KEY 13 MWK xxxx (where xxxx is the extension of your voicemail) ITEM (enter passed to end changes and save) What release of software are you running on your system? You may be able to use the CPY (copy) command if you system has the newer software. Many state that copy and move commands can cause corruption on the older software. Also, I would highly recommend registering with Nortel and getting the Documentation.

Location: Houghton, NY Rep Power: 7 ![]() | A, I didn't show how to create one from scratch as I believe you should at least review LD 11 before programming a TN from scratch. Until you understand LD 11 I would use the CPY command to copy the settings of a current TN to the new TN you want to use. Again, many people believe using the CPY command can cause corruption. I believe this was mainly on the old software releases. First step is to find a compatible unused TN Login to your switch LD 11 REQ: luvu (list unsused voice units) TYPE: 2000 (use 2000 for digital) Enter through It will print a list of available TNs Now you can copy from an existing TN to a new TN you found using LUVU REQ: cpy 1 TYPE: 2616 CFTN (TN you want to copy) TN (TN you want to copy to) DN (Extension you want to assign to key 00) You can then make changes to the phone using instruction I previously gave. TNB stand for terminal number block. You can use 2616, 2008, etc, if you actually know how the TNB is programmed. DNB stands for Directory Number (or extension) block. This block of programming keeps track of all the TNs that you have a line (directory/number) appearance on. DNB is only used during a prt (print) command. For example, say you use extension 6730 on many of your set and you want to know what TNs have it as an appearance... Login to your switch LD 20 (Main printing load... newer switches release software allows you to do your LD 10 and 11 commands here as well) REQ prt TYPE dnb CUST 0 DN 6730 Enter through remainging switch will print information like as follows DN 6730 CPND NAME JON DOE XPLN 10 DISPLAY_FMT FIRST,LAST TYPE SL1 TN 008 0 08 14 KEY 03 DES PHRM 30 JUN 2004 (3904) TN 004 1 00 00 KEY 00 H MARP DES L7 30 JUN 2004 (2317) TN 004 0 13 08 KEY 06 DES S1 16 JUN 2004 (2616) TN 008 0 12 12 KEY 00 H DES PHRM 22 APR 2004 (200 TN 004 1 13 05 KEY 02 DES C63 6 APR 2004 (2616) TN 004 0 13 01 KEY 04 DES S35 18 JUN 2004 (2616) TN 004 0 13 02 KEY 05 DES D33 18 JUN 2004 (2616) TN 004 0 13 05 KEY 03 DES S121A 24 JUN 2004 (2616) TN 008 0 12 09 KEY 13 DES D21 30 JUN 2004 (2616) TN 004 1 00 03 KEY 05 DES D4 8 JUL 2004 (2317) For privacy I have changed certain information such as names. As you can see the system will print out all TNs will appearances. The # between the () is the model of phone. Regarding your question regarding MWK xxxx. This is the extension of your voicemail system. Our voicemail DN is 6900. Everyone's is different. I would print a phone currently programmed to get that number. They should all be the same. I have not used MerMail in a long time as the sites I have helped with choose third party less expensive alternitives. I would search this site to see if there are any examples of how to create mailboxes on it.
