I am installing a Branch Office off an Option 81C at the end of the month, does anyone know if I have to make a new node and zone in the 81 for the Branch office? I understand the Zone # and paramaters at both the Branch office and the 81 must be the same. If anyone has any experience with this beast please let me know

Your 81C and your Branch Office must be considered as separate systems. This will ensure there will not be any configuration conflicts. You need to designate your Branch Zone in the 81C (LD 117). You need to assign a Branch Office User ID to each set (LD 11). Software package 390 allows Branch Office functions at Branch Office. There are normal and local mode set operation depending on which system the set is registered to. If the set is registered to the Branch Office the set will display "Local mode".

Thanks 3056, so let me confirm this with you. I have my current IP sets at the 81 site using zone 0, I will need to set up a Zone 1 at the 81 site along with a Zone 1 at the Branch office site with the same parameters. What about the Nodes? I am assuming I build a second node for the branch office? Also is it correct in saying that the Internet telephones have to be built in the Option 81 Call server for normal mode operation and the Branch office SSC card for Local mode operation incase the WAN fails?

Yes... your Branch Office will be Zone 1. Building your sets in both systems gives you redundancy if the WAN fails. (The Gatekeeper will redirect the Branch Office set to the Branch Office system). It will reregister the set to the Branch Office. Option 11C Mini with signaling server? If the WAN fails the Branch Office goes into local mode. Do you have Callpilot? If so, use caution on zone bandwidth when setting it up. A Branch user dialing 9 locally out of the Branch could use Best Bandwidth instead of Best Quality and Callpilot transferring to a Branch user could get a fast busy (no bandwidth available).

If there is enough bandwidth in Zone 0, you can install your Branch Office in that zone and not worry about Zone Management.
