We have an 81 using an Octel that is managed by a third party, and we have been having MWK light issues as of late. Is there a command, in the switch, not in mail, that I could turn all the lites on to test? Also what do you think would be causing MWK's to not turn on when there is a message?
I have elimanted the phone itself by manually turning on the lite from my desk, but still have the issue.
Thanks
Brian

On a digital phone add Key xx MIK
Key xx MCK
(where xx is the available key number)

You can then press MIK enter extension, MIK to turn it on and
MCK enter the extension, MCK to turn it off.

Octel -- as Fletch says "Octel is German for Overtime" -- requires dedicated message waiting ports that are realtily stupid in so far as once they think a light is on they will not try to relight a set when another message comes in. What we've found with message waiting problems is to have the user go into thier mailbox and clear out all of the new msg's and then leave them a new one which typically clears the problem.

We mostly notice a problem with lights after an ini or shutdown.

I'd also verify how many message waiting ports that you are using and on the Octel I'd use the onlne cdr to verify that all of the message waiting ports are working.

Thanks guys. I have tried to have them clear out their box, and thenm leave them a new one, and the light is delayed. The message is there, but the lit will not lite. Example: message left last night @ 5PM, light doesn't come on until this morning??
Could a power failure have something to do with this. We have had several bad storms as of late, and this didn't show until after the tornaders went their course.

Is the time on your Octel and the time on your PBX the same? I've seen that cause some delayed lighting issues before.

What type of Octel are we talking about?

Did the switch and or Octel go down recently?

The Octel is an O200. As far as I know, the switch didn't go down. I 'm not sure though, the other tech here did the health checks earlier this week while I was recouping for last weeks outage. I spoke with our Octel vendor, and they see no issues. We did adjust time (2 minute differance).
Another site did lose two Controllers, NET, cables etc, but not the main one here.

From Russia with love.

Are you allowed to do any maint on the Octel? There is a setting in the Octel that will allow you to turn on msg waiting lites. Also as Jack has stated you could use the online CDR of the Octel to monitor the mailbox/boxes.
