I do not know how this happened but....
I currently use a Reflections telnet session to connect to a node on our VMS server that allows me to communicate with the switch (via a DEC server). I also can connect via modem but am having to do that remotely and having problems with it timing out. The commands I used to connect using the telnet session are:

conn_sl1 (this starts the connection to the sl1 part of the switch)
Once I hit Enter and try to type in logi, I get nothing but 000000000
The only way I can cancel this is to ^\

I am working with our VMS administrator to see if we can trace down what the issue is but I thought I should check here to see if someone has any ideas.

If you need any further info on how to resolve this (I am off-site today and can't get to the equipment first hand), please let me know and Thanks!

GEI I think i tried that

Do you have to set a certain terminal emulation type? I am using Switchview to telnet into my switch and If I dont have it set to ANSI (ibm-pc) then all I get is garbage.

config prob

I am using Accessory Manager which is a communications software that does tty, com, telnet, etc. and I telnet into my switch through the Switchview box ( the only thing the darn thing is good for). I have to make sure my Accessory Manager software is set to ANSI.
So check with your administrator and make sure Refelctions is set for the right terminal emulation.

I have a Windows XP machine w/ Symantec Procomm connected to the TTY port of our option 81. Since it is Windows XP I can connect to it with Microsoft's Remote Desktop (MSTSC) from anywhere on our network using my NT Logon credentials.

The TTY paddle board on the switch needs to be reseated.

You need to disable all of the TTY ports on the board, flip the manual disable switch on board, remove, replace, flip switch and enable ports.

CAUTION!!!!

I've done this about 100 or so times and at least 1 out of 10 times the switch will INI, be careful.

I agree with Jack. When my telnet session would not work, every keystroke resulted in 00000. I would have to reset the paddleboard to get it to work. And as Jack stated Be verry careful reseating the paddleboard.[/b]

Yeah the '0000000000' thing is a problem I have seen before as well. Faulty hardware. Get your maintenance provider to replace the card.

Symposium Express "Expert' Needed in the Chicago Area

I'd be interested to see what response you get if you try to access the system from that tty port with a laptop/terminal and what sate it is in if you stat the port in LD 37.
