We have a 81C behind a IPC system. We provide analog, lineside T1, and various other Telco circuits. If a trader hits a speed dial, the turret grabs a available line in the hunt group, and dials the number. When it's dialing it's very slow compared to just dialing from a analog set. IPC states that there is a setting in both Nortel and IPC that allows for Enbloc signaling or Overlap. I'm not familar with where I would change this and what afftects it will have in the rest of the system if any.

We are hooking up some QSIG pipes from the Nortel to IPC but if IPC is still outpulsing at the same speed. It will still seem slow.

I'm curious to hear what your resolution to this problem is. I've worked with an 81C and IPC equipment as well and never was able to please the brokers with the speed of the dial. Hmmm... Maybe they should go to real time pop-ups.

Hey guys. I'm still new with the IPC stuff but from what I understand, the overlap prompts are in load 17... -OVLS (send) and OVLR (recievie). Not sure if these prompts are accepted with North American switches. I've seen information from IPC that says you should check the interdigit timer in the Aliance too. I guess they say it should be set at 5 seconds. Hope this helps.

I'm curious about "Trading Turrets" - it seems like a big thing in NYC job postings..

Have any insight..

Call Pilot

Just think of it as a big analog phone that's capable of handling 600 lines. I've only been working with them for about 6 months, but they're kind of interesting. What kind of details are you looking for Chas?

I was thinking of taking a job in NYC in 99 and "trading turrets" were part of the requirement. - that's a big analog phone.

I guess you don't walk around with one of those in your tool bag

Practice tests

The OVLS stuff is correct, but only for Q.Sig. It has nothing to do with the Lineside T1 cards. This is a setting in the IPC dealerboard that needs to be adjusted.

Ok ...I found the OVLS & OVLR in LD 16 (RDB) & LD 17 (CFN). I read the comments on both but do not fully understand what happens when they are ALLOWED (YES) or DENIED (Default-NO).

The definition on the Merl is lacking. What exaclty happens when enabled?
