Training - what is a good starting point

Well, we inherited an Opt11C with Call Pilot 1.05 and are trying to upgrade it to 1.07 (and then to 2.0, but we've got 2 fresh hard drives just in case any or all fail!)
In the process of going from 1.05 to 1.07, it required us to 'upgrade to NT Service Pack 5'; well, we didn't have '5', so we installed Service Pack 6a for NT and tried the upgrade again...The server itself recognizes that it's SP6a now, but the upgrade dialog still says 'You need to upgrade to Service Pack 5'. Kinda bogus.
A) Is there a way to go back to Service Pack 4, then download and install ONLY Service Pack 5 for the upgrade (and NO, we didn't click on 'Create Uninstall Folder In Case You Want To Un-do Service Pack 6a'...what can I say, we though it would be backwards compliant!)?
B) Is there a different upgrade tool that would recognize SP6a?
C) Should we just load 1.07 fresh copy? And if so, will we need to load NT Server first on the hard drive, then Call Pilot; or does the Call Pilot 1.07 install include the NT Server software?

thirty lashes for you my friend. You committed the cardinal since of assuming you are working on a Microsoft product and not Nortel.
As for reverting back to SP 4 check on Microsoft's website. If you want to do a new install of 1.07 make sure you have all the cd's and the step by step procedure to install 1.07.The nt server software is on the cd,don't use a regular NT server cd but make sure you have the keycode for NT 4 Server.
You are looking at about 3-4 hours to reload all the software and about 4 plus hours to restore from backup.Believe me I have done it a few times.Nortel says it takes about 12 hours to complete the procedure.
My suggestion would be to call Nortel and see what they say but I'll bet they'll say to reload.
Let me know what they say.
Thanks

Phone-Tech is right never go out and download anything from anybody except nortel for the callpilot unless specifically directed to by nortel. Every thing you need should have been included with the upgrade kit you should have recieved. You will probably need to reload now.

Yup - Talk to the boys down here in Richardson before you get yourself in a deeper hole. I am sure they have run across this before and can give you your best options out.

Thanks for the replies...I should have mentioned, this system is only in our test lab, not in active service; so there's no problem blowing everything away as necessary.

We're attempting now to go forward with loading 1.07 on a new hard drive, but up against a wall wherein we need the PCMCIA card for fresh boot install and don't have it (wasn't provided with the system, although we DO have every other CD-ROM and floppies for all Call Pilot and Symposium that was on this Opt11 while it was in service).

I've been cruising the Nortel Partner site to find where I can download the appropriate files and burn them onto my own PCMCIA card, but you know how frustrating that Nortel site can be...anyone else know precisely where (on or off the site) these files can be downloaded and burned onto a PC card?

Thanks,
Jim
