Tape is stuck in tape drive and apparently the yellow light is on and you can hear it spinning away. Need to take the tape out. Person is onsite today that might be able to do this if they have a clear picture what to look for. The tech that has given up the task said that a screw was stripped and that they were unable to remove the drive so the tape will just stay stuck as far as they are concerned. My concern extend a bit further. Our person can be onsite in another hour. I can't find any type of procedure for tape drive removal on the Nortel site.

Any help?

They already shut down the system on Friday night and when it came up it stayed spinning. We need to manually remove the cassette but, we have a stripped screw that is preventing the removal of the tape drive unit. Any ideas on how to remove a stripped screw from a tape drive unit?

Go to the tool dept at your local Home Depot or Lowes and go to the drill bit area. They have special bits for removing stripped screws. Be carefull when drilling out the screw!!! You don't want any metal filings flying into the cabinet. You'll want to shield any cracks, crevasses and openings around the screw you'll be removing.

I got the tape out but now I am getting a 4120 - Bug> code and I can't procede from there. I am unable to autoboot the system and when I tell it to restart the system anyway it still comes back to the 4120 Bug code.

HELP!!! What do I enter at the > ???

I am in Hagerstown NOW. I am only here for a few more hours and I need this up before I head to Suitland, MD.

Call 502-6390446 (nextel number)
