Greetings,
I have a customer who had us re-install an Opt 61C w/IPE-MAX that they had taken out of service at one of their other locations. Pretty normal install, EXCEPT: No one knew any of the supervisor IDs or passwords for the MAX, so we were forced to re-install from scratch. As anyone who can answer this question probably knows, when you do a fresh install on MAX, it comes up in Training mode, and the NTPs say to "contact your distributor" for the passwords to move from Training to Pre-Cut, and Pre-Cut to Product modes. I made the inquiry to my distributor contacts prior to starting the MAX re-install, and they thought it should be no problem to get them. Wrong Answer - they're being given the "End-Of-Life" runaround when they go to Nortel to find to what they are. I understand that those passwords were blanket within each MAX release, but different per release. Does anyone have old records of what those are? The customer has legal RTU on the switch, and I don't see any operational or security dangers (a-la PDT) in giving these out, so can anyone help?? I was referred to this site by the distributor engineer and am a newbie here, so while I'm open to having someone email me directly with the info, I can't say as I know how to go about that currently...

Thanks,

I still have my manuals from my installation class. To go to the Precut Mode you log in to the Maint terminal. At the Login prompt enter "precut". You should then get a menu on the console screen. Choose "Pre-cutover Mode". It will then walk you through changing to this mode. Do you know the system default password??? I can't remember from your post. If not send a PM from the bottom of the screen and I can send that to you.

Once in Precut mode you will log in as supervisor zero. From the menu you will choose parameter Administration then Supervisor Dfinition. You will then build in all of your user's for the MTE platform.

You will log out of the console and then log back in as "precut", again. The first choice on the screen should be "Product Mode". This is irreversible so be sure that you have everything in place before you do this. Choose "P" and then follow the prompts on the screen. When you see "Console Login" and "System is ready" you are in Product Mode. Make sure that your HSL, TTY, and LML are all engaged.l

I think that this will get you going. Post if you need more.

The passwords for all modes, training, precut and product are the same for a new install.

If you took the Max from a different system you may not be able to get the system fully functional. The Max software has to have serial number that matchs the PBX SN. When the high speed link attempts to come up, a serial number check is performed.

I provided no passwords. the LOGI prompt is plainly listed in all end-user documentation and bulletins. I only prioritized the information so that the questioner could follow the sequence he was expected to follow.

Thanks for the reminder though.
